A ruling or law that protects some women but actively harms and excludes other women? For this historian of sexual labour, it's deja vu.
Although the focus of interest is what the code says about single-sex provision, it includes a range of new protections for people across the country, including for women whose menopause has a significant impact on their everyday life, updates to reflect the legalisation of same-sex marriage, and clarification that women who breastfeed are protected from harassment.

I haven't yet made it to the new Sex Work exhibition in the Bundeskunsthalle in Bonn but very happy to see that this photo of Marc-of-Frankfurt made the cut! (Thank you to Harriet Langanke for taking this!)

Ahhh I love getting book post. This is special: volume 3 of Transnational Queer Histories has landed! In this instance: @annalisamartin.bsky.social and Sonja Dolinsek’s “Beruf Sexarbeit”, a collection of sources and documents from the German sex worker and rights activist Marc-of-Frankfurt!
On a wooden table, a hardcover book with a rainbow spine and the title “Beruf Sexarbeit: Quellen und Dokumente aus dem Nachlass von Marc-of-Frankfurt (2000-2015).”

50 years ago (2nd June 1975), sex workers occupied Saint-Nizier church in Lyon, France to protest fines, imprisonment, police violence, and stigma. When police threatened to remove the children of sex workers, local women were outraged and joined the 8-day protest
Background is an old photo from sex workers' protest. Text reads, "50th International Sex Workers' Day"
