This whole saga is fascinating for anyone who wants to understand this part of the world and how power actually works here. Unfortunately, I’ve been pitching this story to editors for months without a single response. 5/

Fearing Levan Jangveladze’s brother Merab, a powerful criminal authority who has been linked to the killings of some of the post-Soviet underworld’s most influential figures, including Ded Khasan and Yaponchik, Ivanishvili had to make a choice. 4/

The relationship between Partskhaladze and Ivanishvili only deteriorated after March 2025, when a hitman allegedly hired by Partskhaladze killed businessman Levan Jangveladze, one of the most influential figures in the post-Soviet criminal underworld, in central Tbilisi. 3/

Partskhaladze, sanctioned by both the U.S. and UK, has long wielded influence over Georgia’s Prosecutor’s Office and reportedly controlled part of the country’s powerful judicial clan even after he was forced to resign and moved to Russia. 2/

Beyond shocking: Georgia’s former Prosecutor General and one of the most influential figures in Bidzina Ivanishvili’s inner circle, Otar Partskhaladze, has formed a military unit and gone to the front to fight alongside Russian forces against Ukraine. 1/

We live in an insane reality: well-known TV host Vakho Sanaia has been sentenced to 14 days in prison over a Facebook post in which he jokingly urged people to stop insulting Georgian Dream leaders after the ruling party criminalized insulting posts.

This is especially striking in the context of Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s statement that the government cannot fund the medication because it is “people’s money” and therefore must be spent “responsibly.” 5/

1,000,000 GEL for children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy raised in less than two days! For many Georgians, this became another form of resistance, perhaps one of the few “safe” ones left. Why? 👇 1/

I rarely tweet these days. When things feel this hopeless, I don't know what to say. I don't want my posts to sound like "they beat us again, oh well," and I hate complaining, so most days I stay quiet.
But l'll say this: you have no idea how hard it is to be a journalist, activist, politician, or just a regular citizen in today's Georgia. If you're not with GD, you're under them in every sense of the word.
