Beyond shocking: Georgia’s former Prosecutor General and one of the most influential figures in Bidzina Ivanishvili’s inner circle, Otar Partskhaladze, has formed a military unit and gone to the front to fight alongside Russian forces against Ukraine. 1/

We live in an insane reality: well-known TV host Vakho Sanaia has been sentenced to 14 days in prison over a Facebook post in which he jokingly urged people to stop insulting Georgian Dream leaders after the ruling party criminalized insulting posts.

1,000,000 GEL for children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy raised in less than two days! For many Georgians, this became another form of resistance, perhaps one of the few “safe” ones left. Why? 👇 1/

Kobakhidze’s open letter to Ursula von der Leyen, António Costa and Roberta Metsola is basically this: Georgia is the real Europe, the EU bureaucracy abandoned European values, Copenhagen police violence proves Europe is collapsing, and the EU must explain where it is taking the continent. 1/2

I rarely tweet these days. When things feel this hopeless, I don't know what to say. I don't want my posts to sound like "they beat us again, oh well," and I hate complaining, so most days I stay quiet.
But l'll say this: you have no idea how hard it is to be a journalist, activist, politician, or just a regular citizen in today's Georgia. If you're not with GD, you're under them in every sense of the word.
