Hi all! I will be hiring a PhD student to work on extracting dynamic information (think storms!) from exoplanet spectra. This work will be done within the ERC project VORTEX. If you are interested, please apply through IMPRS until 3 November: www.imprs-hd.mpg.de/3354/How-to-... #astro #exoplanet

NEWS: Can rocky exoplanets hold an atmosphere? A major milestone brings us closer to answering that question. The Rocky Worlds DDT team has completed its first coordinated #NASAWebb and Hubble observations: news.stsci.edu/4v80qpM 🔭 🧪
Artist’s concept of a star and planet. The star takes up the majority of the illustration. It is reddish orange with many flares, and the surface resembles lava. The planet appears as a small, dark grey silhouette passing in front of the top left side of the star. The words “Artist’s Concept” appear at the bottom right of the illustration.

ok I need some chemistry/spectroscopy people to weigh in: what molecular, atomic, ionic species or combinations thereof have a sharp band head within like 50 nm of 3 microns? Not peak absorption, but band head, with the rest of the band going to longer wavelengths
