so I kinda wanna rent a dedi from hetzner and move a lot of things over to it, but I'd like to do it in a cleaner way than a giant monoserver running everything in screen/as systemd units. I guess I wanna divide my dedi into virtual servers lmao

why is something making pmps with file names containing backslashes instead of normal slashes? that doesn't make folders, man, and hs doesn't like it

gf loaded into xiv and the moon didn't load in for her, so her lavender beds is way darker than mine. it's bizarre (and looks more realistic on the ground tbh)

had an expert roulette or something with someone named luna, and I said "heat from fire?" and didn't get a reply. I feel like this is a personal attack /s

real annoying that firefox is only allowing loopback access "temporarily", which results in no change to the PermissionStatus returned by Permissions.query. I wish there were docs about how to get it to show the "remember for this website" box

gf bought a wheel, and euro truck sim and gt4 are very fun to play using a wheel

can we get some gaming site to make a big stink about animation lock before 8.0 releases? it is super embarrassing for SE that when plugins are down and everyone says the game plays like shit, then when plugins come back nobody complains until the next long downtime 😭😭😭

got my xteink x4 and put crosspoint on it, but annoyingly it won't connect to my koreader sync server

I have a hetzner server that runs like a thousand little services, but it's old and needs upgrading. considering buying a dedi and throwing rocky linux 10 on there and migrating everything, but that's so much work...

wow, the first person xiv plugin is really cool. shame it makes you spin faster than the speed of light when using controller, but still really neat

I don't watch fighting games that often, but I love Saint Cola, man. idk why, but his voice is very calming even when he's yelling all hyped

000

mesa blog post says that updating to fedora 44 would remove vendored mesa and use fedora upstream... does that mean the copr? because mine is still there.

000

why does my xiv think my timezone is utc linux ffxiv is so wack sometimes

000

things are telling me that fedora asahi 44 is available, but it doesn't show up in discover, so idk what to think

"Given the size of our ecosystem, this is becoming more and more work." It's almost as if making every single plugin be recompiled and resubmitted, even if there have been no source changes, is a colossally stupid idea

They went nuts with this EX

I do not understand why xivlauncher-rb still can't do steam gameplay recording and still crashes with a DualSense plugged in

Echoes of Vana'diel: Fred Durst???

Surely they're not doing another api bump for 7.5... I have this dream that eventually there will be backwards compatibility and I don't have to do the random update dance so often

Asahi has started freezing during boot about half the time and also browsers are having graphical issues now. First issues I've had!

Sharlayan Git: A Forum-approved code forge.

so now that I've started up git.sharlayan.cloud for people I know, I wanted to set up forgejo actions, but it seems like I need a server that's always on for that? that's not cost-effective, and I can't pay for a server that's just gonna be doing nothing 99% of the time

git.sharlayan.cloud

Forgejo is a self-hosted lightweight software forge. Easy to install and low maintenance, it just does the job.

if someone makes replacement buttons for the steam controller with the playstation buttons... then perhaps you have my attention

I love my translucent PS2 green DualSense controller with tmr sticks... It's so nice

I love the people who come onto the heliosphere forums with issues I never noticed. ty for reporting; now I can fix

discovered two bugs in hs today, both in the same feature. at least they're just because I'm dumb and not because I let a machine decide what the code should be

Just saw a picture of Koji that made me think of Frampt, but it was some rando's selfie with him, so I will not be elaborating

idk why people are talking about an iron mouse, but it sounds like an enemy from a xiv dungeon

You ever think about how they did The Holodeck (Ultimate), but not once in any of the phases did they turn on the holodeck?

I was deathly afraid when they announced seasons, but just essentially being "season 1" means one ilvl cap and "season 2" means a new ilvl cap is good, actually

so maybe I'm wrong, but I'm under the impression that in ye olden dayes, people mostly drank fermented drinks like ales/meads because they knew water would make you sick. granted, they probably weren't very strong, but what about all the pregnant women... surely they didn't know about alcohol […]

I want to see a graph of heart rate from my pebble, but I don't have and will not make a google account. It's syncing data somewhere, but idk how to view it on my phone lmao
