The background has layers that almost look like cut-out construction paper, with the very back being a red-orange with a faded drum kit on top, and the remaining three layers being a crowd of people in a gradient from gray-blue to dark-blue. In the center is a white-pink wedding cake tilted a few degrees to the right, and a swirly pale yellow decorative frame behind it, which marks the beginning of the lemon-yellow lower-third of the image. Most importantly, on top of the wedding cake is Sad Jack (or should we say Jill?) in a bride's veil with his face up against a black electric guitar wearing a tuxedo around the base of its neck.

quick and in secret and just before its lip
a veil of sandbush and horseflies make a run for it
dust storms lope at the sprig
and spur of low hills
my reach bent mumbling something silver future speak, marsh croak
even the moon is a bird of white shell
then blue stone flying through the haze of another wildfire
the world ending all along

Before The Work Is Done When We Are Dead from @guernicaeditions.bsky.social existed, there were A LOT of poems floating in journals & chapbooks. I'm ever so grateful for the venues that gave my writing a home during the 8 years it took me to get this book from first draft to final publication.
