Ceratosaurus was one of the animals placed on Site B that wasn't on Ingen's list(s). They created new breeds and sent the other animal to the Valley secretly hidden in Italy, where no nobody would find them.
A Ceratosaurus faces towards, with a Quilliam photobombing him in the back.A cool color tone version of the same image. A Ceratosaurus walks out of the thorny bush with a blurry photobombing raptor that thinks you can't see him, in the background, naturally blurry as he escapes the depth of field.

Evolution of Dimetrodon depictions through the years. I was interested in putting this together, since it went from scaly to skinny to scaly again.
Various Dimetrodon depictions from 1897 to now, from a belly dragging scaly thing to a almost mammal on a non mammalian skeleton back to a scaly synapsid thanks to some basking impressions.

I wonder if the Ladd's owl size estimates/guesses were a bit exaggerated, I mean looking at the fig on the paper the beak symphysis isn't that different in size from some of the big owls of today, but it does look distinct. I heard of big owl bones being found in Mexico, but

Gallimumus in the desert- I wanted to try different habitats, particularly open ones.
2 (Jurassic parky) gallimimus among some rocks in a desert environment. The foreground one has blue and red stripe patterns. a closeup of the head and ground of a presumably male gallimimus, nothing to eat on the ground. After I checked several weeks later I realized this is not the right environment for Galli's, I could do a floodplain someday.

Really taken with Haolong dongi, out today from Jiandong Huang, Pascal Godefroit and team. Just submitted news article on it. An iguanodontian with abundant hollow spikes across the neck and body, projecting from among conventional basement scales, and with rows of plate-like scales along the tail.
Life reconstruction of Haolong in dark forest environment, by Fabio Manucci.Montage showing scales and spikes of Haolong, with anatomical position marked on life reconstruction of whole animal. From Huang et al. 'Cellular-level preservation of cutaneous spikes in an Early Cretaceous'.

Acrocanthosaurus, given an extra high fleshy ridge on the back and neck, side view
An Acrocanthosaurus sketch, lateral view. Not a very detailed one with scales. I experimented with a soft tissue ridge based on Edmontosaurus. I wonder if this sort of feature could apply to some high spined species, though I wouldn't put it on Spinosaurus because I think its sail is high enough. Based on a skeletal reconstruction by Francisco Bruñén.

I installed EA remakes onto Zoo tycoon 2, the only animals with designs that really bugged me are the extinct ones, they got often more cartoony designs and proportions than the extant animals. I didn't feel like also adding in the other mods to get the extinct remake so I customed it to do without.
Various animals. Back-Triceratops, a woolly rhino, a deinonychus, dodo at front, and an unmodded moose/elk to show I've kept the modern animal the same.Velociraptors in an enclosed exhibit.

For the first illustration I did this year, I played around with the layer mask. I didn't understand it before so generally ignored it. That's how I blended in the structure at the right.
A gray foggy scene, a line of forest blends together in the background, and darker foreground trees occupy the left of the image. Some electricity poles line up along a road, which is indicated with a railing at the left. A building with service towers looms at the right.

These critters all lived in the first six million years of the Cenozoic and each one was, in its time, the biggest mammal that had ever existed. It took some work to balance the intended message, desired visual impact, and tech limitations, but I think the latest version of this display works well.
