FRIENDLY REMINDER, if your opinions or "psychoanalytical takes" about/against a writer or director come from a person who, in a war between studio and artist, smugly supports the studio and calls said studio's closure due to their own hubris "a tragedy," I'm so sorry but please unfollow me.

The comments and other quotes to this post already proves that the rise of post-Whedon nerd culture was a mistake, and it needs to die a most painful death.

"lol Zack Snyder just wants to make everything into Excalibur" - people who clearly don't know how much Kurosawa loved Ford, how much De Palma loves Hitchcock, or how much Carpenter loves Hawks. And oh noes, modern big-budget genre films that genuinely draw from something good!!

#ToxicTheMovie was such a blast on the big-screen, while also somehow doubling as a fascinating experiment in formalist self-critique. Read my review here: cinemaelite.com/review/film/...

Last weekend, for The National News, I reviewed the #Vysakh directed Malayalam-language action thriller #KhalifaTheRuler starring Prithviraj Sukumaran. Had an absolute blast with this slice of old-school, cool-and-clever Archetypal Action Movie-isms: www.thenationalnews.com/arts-culture...

I loved #TheOdyssey a lot. It's trademark Nolan, marrying big screen spectacle with questions to which there are no easy answers. Read my review here: cinemaelite.com/review/film/...

The Odyssey is such a WILDLY personal take on what I've gathered is an epic poem. There are dazzling setpieces, sure, but then the movie slams you down to the ground to give you a front-row view into the detritus of war & what victory could really mean in the long run for warriors.

For uniformity, and because of my old IG account looking like it will be gone forever, my handle will be AnkitJaiOjha everywhere I am. Thought of adding the "Jai" because it's my father's name and he's been a major and positive constant in my life; it was the only proper way to change structure.

Replaying Elden Ring these days. It's such a strange game, honestly—in that I personally couldn't bear the foreboding nature of a silent protagonist's utter loneliness in a world where possibly more than 95% of beings want to kill you and tell you to "put your foolish ambitions to rest."

I ablsolutely love it when people get vulnerable about the art that affects them on a deep internal level. This is such a personal essay, and I hope more people get to see it, and—by proxy, hopefully—understand and empathize where a lot of us are coming from in our love for the movie & trilogy.
