Meme from 1943 from my dad’s collection of family memorabilia. This postcard was sent to my dad’s uncle. I love that it’s addressed simply to Thor Larson, Sandpoint Idaho, and it got where it was meant to go.

When I taught middle school math, I gave students the top pic and they solved it quickly. Then I gave them then bottom pic and they were like, what even is this? When I showed them it was the same as the fruit puzzle, it helped them understand. Math is both a system of concepts and a language

People have stopped their cars while I’m walking my husky to tell me that he’s beautiful.

Our mayor the Strawberry made an appearance at Japan Fest this weekend.

Here’s what I wrote in my comment. Please leave a comment also.

The president is not a scientist, nor is he well-versed in every scientific field.
Thus, his political inclinations are not informed by science, and he doesn't have a sense of what kinds of scientific studies are necessary to further public health, medical advancements, energy, technology, or general research.
Science funding should not be under the influence of one person's prejudices, narrow-mindedness, or agenda. It should be determined by panels experts who understand the subjects deeply and can judge what would be most beneficial. We've seen this administration cut funding for programs they didn't understand, such as screw worm prevention, and then the ending of these programs led to dire consequences.

America is the world leader in science and innovation. By making science in the thrall to a politician, we will lose so much. We'll lose talent, innovation, and important breakthroughs. We'll lose that steady stream of advancements that have made cancer more survivable, that have decreased child mortality, and that have improved clean energy and energy efficiency. If you want to keep America great, then invest in science and don't put science under the thumb of politics.

Taskmaster had a task where people had 20 minutes to create a number system. I made this one: one is made of one line, 2 from 2 lines, 9 from 9 lines, etc. (0 is an empty rounded cup.) The names are one syllable in alphabetical order (skipping c because it makes two sounds)
