EDIT: In response to the company: The estimate lI received listed exactly one option: S8,874.89 for a 50 gallon direct vent natural gas water heater installation.
My heater is power-vent so the estimate doesn't even match what is in my house. And then your auto-renewing annual membership was $175.89 extra.
There's no world in which that is a reasonable estimate for the job. You also did not address the reason I called in the first place. I have a leaky faucet in my whirpool tub. The recommendation was to rip out the tub and the wall because the tub is discontinued. The tech did not mention aftermarket replacement parts or a repair. I'll pass on the call.
Everything I have to say is in this review.

I had one of the techs show up 30 minutes past the arrival window which in and of itself was fine. Then he quoted me 9K for a 50g water heater installation.

For a water heater.
It's insane. Maybe it was a "please don't call us we don't want to do this work" quote, but honestly, you should be ashamed.
I called for a leaky faucet in my whirlpool tub. Was told that because the tub itself has been discontinued, I have to remove the entire tub from the wall and replace it. Didn't even suggest getting aftermarket parts to try to fix the faucet. Nope. It was immediately "You have to rip your bathroom wall up."
Maybe that will turn out to be true and maybe it won't, but given the 9K quote for a friggin water heater, I'm going to guess that it won't.
You shouldn't try to take advantage of people you think have no idea what they're doing when it comes to large jobs. I didn't know what the cost would be when he left. And the 9K price nearly gave me a panic attack. Then I did my research and realized 9K was ridiculous, as did my neighbor who will be replacing my water heater for me probably in exchange for a nice large pot of lamb bolognese and a chocolate layer cake. So thank goodness for good neighbors. Thank goodness I'm smart enough to, you know, check the Longmont subreddit rather than forking over 9 grand for a water heater.

Shame on you.
