janie @angels.bsky.social · 03/10/2026found out today my girlfriend and by extension me are mildly famous among a bunch of 19-20 year old trans girls in western mass. shoutouts 1240
janie @angels.bsky.social · 01/10/2026once you learn it it somehow kicks ass. its like magic. rolling dice is fun no matter the outcome. you get shot by one million missiles and your robot falls over and your guy hits their head and falls unconscious and now the enemy can advance without getting shot by your gauss rifles its...sooo good 240
janie @angels.bsky.social · 01/10/2026the purpose of a system is what it does. battletech is a game about simulating robots falling over 2121
janie @angels.bsky.social · 01/10/2026oh I almost forgot - next turn if you fail your roll to stand up it counts as falling down again so you have to do that entire process over again. and trying to stand up only costs 2 movement points, so if you're unlucky enough you can fall down up to 3 or 4 times in a single turn 1120
janie @angels.bsky.social · 01/10/2026ive been playing the OG with my coworkers and honestly it kicks so much ass. it is definitely 4 hours of rolling dice until someone's mech explodes or gets its head kicked off but when that shit happens it is like ascending to heaven 230
janie @angels.bsky.social · 01/10/2026its not totally revamped but they did simplify and cut out a bunch of stuff like having multiple seatbelt checks a turn and facing after a fall and I think they revamped all the rules for support vehicles and air combat and environmental conditions. not A Totally New Game but a Better Battletech 000
janie @angels.bsky.social · 01/10/2026theres one guy out there right now absolutely pissed that they cut facing after a fall. please someone ask me what facing after a fall is 250

janie @angels.bsky.social · 25/09/2026tv shows used to have scenes with no direct bearing on an overarching plot but that were just fun and gave you more context on the world and interiority of the characters. do you remember that? if they made tng today they would cut out the poker games for more scenes with the borg 060
janie @angels.bsky.social · 25/09/2026ppl ranking twin peaks the return and not twin peaks is so telling. idk man. i think the soap opera is part of it. i think television used to be a medium that wasn't just One Long Movie that we cut into pieces 2180
