i enjoy capital-H horror in limited doses but i tend to get skittish/cranky most easily with found footage, especially when it's graphically violent. placate me with lawrence dane afterwards and all will be well

A screenshot from The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, demonstrating the expressionist set design of the town square. The buildings and their windows are constructed to be deliberately lopsided and distorted, all with their own shadows and lighting painted onto them.

Another screenshot, this time showing the mad scientist Dr. Caligari, a longhaired old man in a dark top hat and cloak, opening his cabinet to reveal Cesare, a tall, gaunt sleep-walker dressed entirely in black, with black hair, and black makeup around his eyes and lips.

Franzis’s wife, Jane, locks eyes with Cesare from the side before running and screaming. She has a pale, painted face with long curly dark hair and wearing a garishly striped dress.

Another screenshot, this time of Cesare carrying an unconscious Jane down a sloping, downward path, flanged on either side by spiky trees and lopsided street lamps.

Another screenshot, this time showing the interior of the asylum where Franzis is a patient. In the crowd of patients we can see Jane under the delusion that she’s a queen, and Cesare cradling a bouquet of flowers and walking peacefully.

The floor of the asylum has bicolor rays spreading out from the middle of the floor, giving it an almost circus-like appearance.

sometimes i remember this pop psych (?) book whim had to read for some grad class that claimed cats don't make eye contact and that was somehow a measure of sentience/perception/whatever. clearly written by someone who never bothered to get to know a cat.

Comic page. I am too tired to alt text it but basically Daisuke is complaining about last night's dalliances, asks Ken if he's going to make it up to him and then Ken says git gud at poker next time. Daisuke is very shocked and stunned and ends up muttering and blushing to himself.
