While Starship prepares for flight 14 — hopefully its first successful orbital flight — here's Opus 5.5 rendering a Mars lander in Blender flying the powered descent guidance trajectories from JPL's classic paper: arc.aiaa.org/doi/abs/10.2...

AI-slop will rule the world. A user on HN linked to a post on my site from 1 hr ago containing Claude-words after letting it loose on my obsidian vault to find contradictions in my thinking. It sorta blew up? I've spent more time on other posts with <50 reads. The writing game's gone, lads.

Yessir! A friend kindly took me along to ring in the 38th but also burst my Lord’s cherry. What a glorious stadium. We’d also gone to the Oval to watch the WTC final drubbing to Australia. A lesser but still excellent stadium.

I just came to drop an image that you’d appreciated before it all went, as they say here, “t*ts up” for India. But an epic 4th day was watched at Lord’s.

Scored these but burned a hole in me pockets, a week ago at the Folio Society sale. Some really beautiful books out there.

Reading this, it hit me that the “attention economy” could also be called the “inattentive economy”.

Very tempted to use the 3rd definition of incredible more often in my life.

Way cooler than Bond's "Licence to Kill".

Wonder what Clinton Brown would say now that we haven't been back to the Moon in an age.

Remarkable story on the first developments of the rendezvous at NASA, pre-Apollo.

I’ve read some different perspectives on Apollo and skipping the focus on LEO. Might be worth collecting them in a thread as and when I come across them again. Here’s one I recently read.

Listening to Graeber talk about Bell Labs was fun.
high corporate taxes in the Bell Labs-era counterintuitively drove innovation because 60% corporate tax incentivized investing pre-tax profits into higher staff salaries alongside R&D spending, which was written off. This way the taxes never made it to the government but also didn't line the pockets of corporations but drove overall productivity.

LLMs overwhelm me with the amount of information but every now and then, I get some crazy fundamental reminder like this about the potential they hold.
• Defense industries actually prefer constant low-
level conflict to major wars
