I‘ve felt similarly obliged to keep up with AI, but suspect most academics I work with are unaware of recent progress or refusing to talk about it openly. Many unis are sleepwalking, but if you’re using newer models then you’d be as grim as this IISc prof. youtube.com/watch?v=N2a1...

American border-crossing with an Indian passport was so stressful when I studied here; I’ll never take for granted the ease of doing the same since becoming British. 10/10 would recommend Indians move to countries with better citizenship pathways than America.

Space data centres will not be cheaper than terrestrial ones. There may be something underlying the idea but it won’t be found in a business case premised on 2 digit/kg launch cost. Radiators are killers. angadh.com/space-data-c...

My experience in teaching uni kids to code with AI has been terrific- the downside is witnessing their inability to ask deep follow-up questions. I think some of us loquacious types take prompting for granted. I do think much younger kids excel at prompting so early use of AI should be encouraged.
