Thanks to Advanced Materials for selecting our article on "Olympic" gels for a cover! 🔗🔗🔗🔗🔗🔗🔗🔗🔗 advanced.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1... #MaterialsScience #Biotechnology #Nanotechnology
This cover illustrates the molecular structure of an “Olympic gel” composed of mechanically interlocked plasmids. The ring-shaped DNA molecules can reversibly open and close via diversified lock-and-key domains, enabling controlled formation of mechanical bonds. The study shows that combinatorial synthetic biology can yield compositionally complex soft materials with exotic topological architectures and unique physical characteristics. How can we record the mechanical activity of cells in three dimensions? Our DNA force-history probes convert transient piconewton forces into persistent fluorescent signals, revealing spheroid activity, cellular protrusions, and migration tracks in a 3D matrix. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

Working on this collaborative project in the Krieg lab has been a real pleasure. It began as a side ninja project with almost no budget but has grown and expanded so much. Really proud of what we have accomplished🥺 please check it out: advanced.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...

This is doing the rounds in my messages with colleagues, and is a very real threat to the field of microscopy 😬. Given one (published) microscope image probably costs between $100 and $10,000 (or more) to make - the lure of "oh I will just ChatGPT it" is very much there.

Big congrats to Dr. Krishna Gupta for winning the best poster prize at Oxford Global’s NextGen Omics conference in London, where he presented our work on #LASSO pulldown polymers. 💪 LASSO is a new general-purpose method for fast and ultra-selective biomolecule purification.

If you're working with pulldown assays but suffer from their low capacity, low flexibility, sub-optimal specificity, carryover contaminations, and high cost, you may want to check out LASSO. Feel free to DM me if you're interested in testing it!

Just out in @angewandtechemie.bsky.social! #LASSO a new method for ultra-selective isolation of biomolecules (DNA, RNA, or protein). This method uses a unique polymer phase separation mechanism to gently capture and pull down specific target sequences.

Exciting application of our programmable #CellCulture matrix #DyNAtrix. By creating a mechanically reconfigurable microenvironment, we can now invert & guide epithelial cell polarity in real time. #DNAnanotech 1/ 🧵
