If open research is judged only by who can read the final article, it overlooks who has the networks, feedback and institutional support to shape research.

Honestly this advice changed my life. "Just say ‘I disagree’." You have do that, but you don't have to do more than that. Don’t make some elaborate argument, don't call the person scum, just make it clear that you don't think like that. And get your mates to chime in, too.

Whether you need feedback on a specific project, guidance on a tool, help planning a dissemination strategy, bring your questions along. Please share with anyone involved in research projects who want to discuss how they can improve their activities, from research bid to impact gathering. 5/5

The catch? None. I’m doing this to build relationships and show what I can offer. If you want to work together on funded projects later, great, if not, you still walk away with practical solutions. If you think my advice was valuable, tell others you work with but there will be no hard sell. 4/5

But the lack of guidance and support meant we were skating on thin ice as they looked for shortcuts caused by the demands of their job. We're also seeing that with AI and will see it even more as we start to see how seemingly innocent collaborations with other nations aren't as they seem. 4/4

Dawne talks about the National Teaching Repository which she established to help educators share OERs. She discussed what's needed to make OERs more formally recognised as part of HE and the barriers to making resources open. And of course, picked a few things to sling into the Under Review bin. 2/2

It’s kind of embarrassing how susceptible academics are to this sort of nonsense. It should be straightforward to establish the existence or non-existence of prestigious honor societies or “academies” in fields you are nominally a leading expert in, for heaven’s sake.
