The Tesla Cybercab launch party was very weird. No livestream, no journalists, just several hundred Tesla employees and dozens of pro-Tesla influencers who would never say ill about Elon or his company. The vibes were off www.theverge.com/transportati...

Giving up driving is extremely tough for seniors, especially in our car dominated society. Just make sure you're considering all your options. and good luck!

I would advise your parents to seek out non-car options for their future transportation needs, like rideshare and public transit. That may be expensive and complicated, depending on where they live. But I'm sure there are some Medicare-approved methods.

There are a lot of better options, including GM's super cruise and Ford's BlueCruise. That said, I agree with @davidzipper.bsky.social: all Level 2 systems require the driver to be vigilant and be ready to take control at a moments notice. That could be tough for seniors with health issues

My sympathetic read of this is that everyone just wants to reach other people and the reason artists get held in such high regard is that they are able to do that in ways most of us can’t. AI offers a chance to steal the magic; of course it’s seductive. But it’s still not the thing

Happy to return to @theverge.com with a 2-part look at Chinese automaker Geely + what it faces before it can sell cars in the U.S. I hadn't driven any Chinese car since 2020, which might as well have been the 1990s given that industry's speed. Part I is my drive reports of 3 brands w/3 powertrains.
