Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

Found some truly exceptional #specialtycoffee cafes in Torino, IT last week. Oishii, Artifact, Dapper and Ola all excelled in selection, preparation, presentation and hospitality. #coffeesky #coffeefeed #coffeenerds
Pictured is an exquisitely roasted and brewed coffee at Oishii Coffee in Torino, Italy. The coffee is a natural process, Panamanian Gesha, served in a wine glass for maximum olfactory pleasure. The coffee is sourced and roasted by Brewing Dealers, a micro roastery in Malaga, Spain. The photo shows the wine glass from above, with the card explaining origin, process, tasting notes and price. The carved texture of the table top is a nice contrast to the glass and coffee.

The crowds are gone with Labor Day's passing. Only one other soul on Mashpee Beach this AM, witnessing this spectacular sky before the sun rose and the clouds dulled it all into gray. I'm reminded that I could have slept through this... and I always feel grateful when I don't. #eck #capecod #sunrise
Pre dawn sky at Mashpee Beach on Cape Cod. The sky around the horizon is bright orange red, reflected in the water as well. The foreground is all black, but you can make out wisps of beach grass on the left at the horizon, as well as an unmanned lifeguard chair, silhouetted by the water's edge.

The world will miss its 1.5-degree Celsius climate target for temperature increase from preindustrial times, based on the report from the UN. We are now on pace to have a 2.6 degree Celsius increase by the end of this century, which will 'reshape the world forever.'

U.N. Says World Will Miss Its 1.5-Degree Climate Target (Gift Article)
It proposed a new goal of limiting the “overshoot” of rising temperatures and eventually figuring out how to undo the temperature gains, a highly uncertain path.

We are a broken nation. Hundreds of thousands of Haitians were living and working legally, paying taxes, and contributing. Haiti remains wholly unsafe. But Trump hates Haitians, and the White House wanted videos of Black people in chains, so they stripped them of status and turned on the cameras.

A bee, exiting a particularly beautiful rose in the front yard. (I wish I remembered that this variety was called) This photo checks a few of the hashtags for today, including #Bloomscrolling #RedWed #ColorADay #ECK #CapeCod #photography
The photo shows a bee exiting the center of a rose that is a mix of yellow inner petals and pink/red outer petals. There are beads of dew on the petals as well. The photo was taken in Mashpee, Massachusetts on Cape Cod.

I couldn't walk past the chanterelles at the Farmer's Market in Falmouth without getting a few to make pasta with. All the seasonality for #FoodOnFriday #foodphotography #ECK.
The photo shows at top an assortment of golden chanterelle mushrooms on a paper towel. A little brush is in the middle - used to remove dirt and grit without having to wash said mushrooms. At the bottom of the photo is a few sprigs of wild thyme and some chives from the garden. The photo shows the completed dish in a white ceramic bowl (photo taken from above): a mound of buttery fettucine with chanterelles on top that have been cooked in butter, white wine, garlic and thyme. Grated Parmigiano on top as well as chopped chives.

Hands down winner for the #FoodOnFriday is this Thai Beef Salad from this week. When the "dressing" is right, I'd drink a glass of it! I could have toasted the rice more before grinding, but I got impatient!
This photo shows the ingredients in the dressing for Thai beef salad, with fish sauce in the top left, toasted rice powder (needed to be a bit more toasted, but I got impatient!) in the mortar & pestle at top right. Then on the plate in the bottom 2/3 of the photo, clockwise from top, there is a lime cut in half, a head of garlic from the farmer's market, palm sugar pieces, cilantro stems and thai chilis. This photo shows a white bowl with Thai beef salad, dressed and topped with toasted rice powder. In the salad are thinly shaved red onions, red bell peppers, cucumbers and a ton of fresh mint and fresh cilantro, including chopped cilantro stems.

The goal of the battle over the origins of COVID19 is “to sow distrust in science and scientists”. This article shows why experts believe that this was a spillover event and not a lab leak. The maps showing the cluster of the first cases around the wet market are old school Epidemiology. Solid.

As the song goes... "leftover memories of Sunday" for #MagentaMonday and #MacroMonday. One of the spectacular peonies in the backyard for some #bloomscrolling on a gray day on #capecod.
A macro close up of a bright pink peony blossom, taken in my backyard. There are three different stages of petals in this photo: the outer ones, splayed open, then a lighter pink set around the center of the blossom and then the curled up center petals that match the outer ones in color. These flowers are just WILD.

May we all move in accordance with the gentle pull towards #growth within us and not surrender to the algorithmic bombardment of "optimization". Spring is full of growth that can't be rushed and is far from perfect, but delights us nonetheless. #blueskyartshow
The photo shows a tightly wrapped iris in the bud, with tiny droplets of water from the morning dew all over it. The iris petals are barely visible and white, the stem and the background are the bright green of spring with swaths of yellow as well.

Ever since trying one at Vice City Bean in Miami years ago, I have loved a "spro and tonic" situation. Today, I made a "spro and ginger ale" and I have to say... it ain't half bad. #coffeesky #coffeefeed
The image shows a double insulated glass (made by FLUR) on top of a coffee table with a african violet to the right and a speaker behind it. The glass has ice cubes, ginger ale and then a double shot of espresso poured in. The bottom of the glass shows only ginger ale as the coffee is sinking to the bottom.

Okay, one more. This is for #scape day. Sunset at Mashpee Beach on Cape Cod. Love those little golden brushstrokes on the beach grass as the sun sets. #capecod #eastcoastkin
The photo shows a view towards the ocean from a boardwalk on Mashpee Beach on Cape Cod. The beach grass is dark green but seems painted with golden and pink light from the sun's rays as it sets. The sky is overcast, but also pink towards the horizon, thanks to the sunset.

After a winter that dumped feet of snow, combined with the existential freeze we are all combatting, it is so nice to witness spring. As Neruda said, "you can cut down all the flowers, but you can't hold back spring". (So much nicer in Spanish, though) #bloomscrolling #capecod #flowers
The photos shows a bunch of yellow daffodils in morning's mottled light. The grass if the foreground is a vibrant green while the trees in the background have yet to bud and leaf. The trees remind us of winter, but the daffodils convince us of spring.
