Hearing AI regulation is in the air, especially with a misguided tone of “open dangerous, closed safe” so it felt timely to re-up this one. There are ways to make the AI industry safer without kneecapping transparency, education, and competition. www.interconnects.ai/p/banning-op...

We live in a world where people are giving AI agents access to their bank accounts via MCP/OpenBanking. In the meantime, automating personal Facebook/Instagram posts. Impossible!

My biggest beef with Cloud computing is the naming of S3_ACCESS_KEY_ID and S3_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY Every single time I have to type those up I either mistype or confuse the meaning. Also, would it have killed AWS to make the auth pair share a prefix? #devops #rant

If anyone at Hetzner could explain to me why I need to individually delete every object of an Object Storage (S3) bucket before I can delete the bucket - that would be great. By the progress of doing a recursive deletion on the FSN1 region I expect our bucket to empty sometime before Christmas

I grew up watching cartoons where it the theme was "good vs evil". Bad guys never seemed to have a reason to be evil. Today, I think "good vs evil" is; to what extent you are willing to let other people suffer for your choices.

What I miss from older chat platforms is knowing when people are available to chat. Everybody's online, but there's no indication of "brb" or "bbl". People initiate a conversation and then stop responding 5 minutes later. Infuriating! If I wanted async communication, I'd use email. #rant

I remember reading Asimov's stories and thinking; "We'll never have the need for rules like that". Now, I honestly think we'd be better off of this was hardcoded into all the models and enforced by international law. Hopefully before we start equipping killer drones with AI. Am I too late?
1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Using headless browsers and agents to document requirements as user-stories automatically by browsing a web-based platform feels absolutely magical to me. This is useful for projects that didn't have any requirements outside of code, for documenting a competitor, second-system or just for fun.

Crazy how a minor irritation and a shower-thought of "damn, this nextcloud sync client is annoying" could lead to a cross-platform webdav sync client in rust in an evening using dropbox-like conflict handling. Far too early to publish anything - but early results are promising.

I don't feel strongly about companies buying books to scan them. That's between them, the publishers and their lawyers. But destroying them or scanning them in a way that destroys the art is horrible! It falls into the same category as book-burning. You're destroying our common knowledge.
