Guests started to arrive at 3:00. Only 26 this Thanksgiving, a bit smaller than our usual family gathering. But we also had a bluejay join us, which we always refer to as "Dad is here", as he loved his bluejays! Good food, great family - it was a wonderful, fulfilling day!

Today is catch up on the little things day. We got the pool covered a few days back, late by about 3-4 weeks. Today I’m vacuuming out water lines and blocking jets/skimmer, among other things. It’s been a busy year and I’m still looking forward to my prediction that things will calm down soon.

We have too many Mondays and not enough Wednesdays. If elected Mayor, I’ll work towards fixing that.

And despite our advances, 141 years later we have those who choose fear over science. If nothing else, it demonstrates that as a rule, society advances faster than individual humans.

Considering it’s the bundibugyo strain which we are far less prepared for, this should be more of a concern than we’re showing it.

It was a perfect evening for this! However, weather depending, it may yet be outdone as the peak migration through Fort Whyte isn't until around the end of the first week of October to Thanksgiving range.

I always liked the episode where the grade C Physics student built an atomic bomb (minus the plutonium). “Think of what the guys with B’s and A’s could do…especially if they get mad!” Loosely based on a true story of the “The A-Bomb Kid”. m.youtube.com/watch?v=ib8S...

But what a HUGE job sorting for donation, garbage, and keepers, plus repairs, painting, and staging for sale! Not to mention a 22 hour drive there, then back again. I’m home again, but I think I left my body somewhere along the way. 😂 Bone weary tired is the phrase. 🥴

Well that was an interesting trip. I went to Owen Sound to prep the home there for sale now that it’s no longer needed and decided to take my “new” steal-of-a-deal old truck so that I could bring a load back with me. Transmission blew just outside Thunder Bay - $9k of total expenses later…

Can relate. It’s similar with our son who is now living in Eutrecht, Netherlands for school and seems to have found his place in society there. It’s only a little easier when they’re closer to home, but still hard to let go.

Some of the photos taken by my phone as the eclipse progressed. Really wish I had remembered to bring my telescope to the cottage though! The phone camera washed out as it got closer to maximum, so I'll only post these 3. Taken at 10:05PM, 10:24PM, and 10:34PM (max was at 11:13PM our time)

I also think we should counter with certain states to become Canada’s 11th+ provinces. I think there’d be a lot of support for the idea on the West US coast and sprinkled elsewhere. They can keep N. Dakota and any other state that recognizes Melon-head as a legit, smart leader. Need to swear

A bittersweet kind of day today. I went to the Celabration of Life of my best friend in high school and beyond, who was permanently disabled from a cycling accident when he was 25. Good to see some schoolmates and other friends and family, I just wish the circumstances were different.

4) Maintenance - what’s that? EV cars rule by FAR here! 5) Yeah but wait until you have to replace your battery. (*Smirk*) My battery has a 5 year/160k full replacement guarantee. And when if it does go? Modern EV cars only need to replace the bad battery modules. 32 modules in my car’s case. 🤷🏼‍♂️

every time I get home and almost never need to wait at a fast-charge station. So my fill takes me 5 seconds vs your (questionable) 5 minutes. 3) My former gas car (9.5 l/100 kms at best) would cost me about $80 to drive the 500 km round trip to my cottage and back. My electric is just under $10.

A few points: 1) the ONLY time I have ever had range anxiety was when I had just purchased the vehicle. That, after reading all the naysayers reporting how you can’t do long trips in Winter with an electric. 2) “I can fill my gas car in 5 minutes! You can’t do that.” No, but I plug my car in

When the front blew through here 20 or so mins ago, I’m amazed none of my trees snapped. I’ve NEVER seen winds move them nearly like that before. I’m guessing we’re lucky the previous storms broke off the weaker limbs already - less of a load/sail for the remaining tree.
