According to the PRRI Census of American Religion, young women (18-29) have shed religious labels steadily since 2013, when 29% identified as religiously unaffiliated. By 2024, that figure grew to 40%, and in 2025, it increased to 43%. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/16/o...

Forgot to mention this yesterday: among the signers of this letter (which organizers say has now grown beyond 2,000) is the president of Fuller Seminary. Many other deans/academics/presidents listed hail from liberal mainline traditions, but Fuller is a well-known evangelical Christian seminary.
