Also how did they miss Black-ish… how did they miss the The Boondocks? NYT likes Prestige more than they like watching TV!

Other great TV shows besides Airbender that didn't make the Prestigious NYT list: Brooklyn 99 Bob's Burgers Flight of the Conchords Endeavor Deadloch Our Flag Means Death Gravity Falls Big Little Lies The Durrells That's just in English! If Japan and ROK were fairly considered, forget about it...

Is "Lady" by Commodores considered disco? It was 1981 but still gives that vibe. Otherwise "Everybody Dance" by CHIC or "Never Can Say Goodbye" by Gloria Gaynor are my favorites

Sad news. Wendell Berry 1934-2026

The Peace of Wild
Things
by Wendell Berry
When despair for the world grows in me and I wake in the night at the least sound in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be,
go and lie down where the wood drake rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things who do not tax their lives with forethought of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

I'm in an email job, and I want to be a garbage man for just one day a week, to be outside in the neighborhood, to ride on the back of that awesome truck, grab and fling bags of stinky trash, upend trash cans into the back and hit the button to smash the trash. one day a week and then back to emails

If I remember right mammals returned to the ocean no less than three separate times. One group of carnivores became walruses and seals, another group related to deer became whales and dolphins, a third group became manatees and sea cows.

good point. My hunch is I want the emergency response to disasters, famine, pandemics, etc, to be near automatic and apolitical. But I think economic development, stabilization, global-fragility-act-type missions, peacebuilding all benefit from a full statecraft toolkit.
