Cue the Silver Shamrock jingle - the countdown to Halloween is on! What better way to kick off Spooky Season than by hearing from Tom Atkins himself, in this excerpt from his “Horror in Haddonfield” interview. (Link in comments)

Happy October 1st! Let’s kick off Spooky Season the right way: Let me see your Halloween rankings

People hated Season of the Witch when it came out. Now it’s one of the most beloved Halloween sequels. “Curse of Michael Myers” found its cult following. Rob Zombie’s H2 went from being the most hated sequel to getting a cultural reappraisal. Halloween Ends, your day is coming.

Work is almost done. Holding out hope that I can speak with @markfrost.bsky.social if at all possible before I submit to my publisher.

What I’ve said about my next book so far: * Should be out in the Spring of 2027. * Interviews & Essays again * David Duchovny is the only announced interview so far. * More interviews than “Haddonfield” & most are presented in long form. * I believe the essays are some of my best work to date.

There’s definitely going to be some retcon issues us long time fans are going to have to find peace with, but this trailer is promising. I really hope Peacock puts some marketing muscle behind this one - could be just the jolt the series needs to get moving again.

Turning 42 today makes me realize that this is my last birthday where my new age will be one of the numbers from LOST. Yes, I am that much of a nerd. @damonlindelof.bsky.social

Last night, I finished writing Book 2. Next up, editing & re-writes. Still a lot of work to do, but as of this morning, I’m super proud. I do think it’s some of my best writing to date. Excited to get it out to the world in 2027.

The Whisper Man wasted several really good performances on a script that told you everything you needed to know in the first act. I gave it 2.5 stars on Letterbox primarily because of the acting. Not one that I would recommend.

Update: I’m down to my last chapter to write on Book 2. Once it’s written, I’ll start editing & seeing how I can make the book better. To my podcaster, YouTuber & critic friends - let’s stay in touch. Things are happening quickly. Goal is to have this out in Spring of 2027

Hayden Panettiere, Dolly Parton, Michael Wright and Tim Curry have all died in the last 10 days. Such a gut punch. You can stop now 2026.

Unless someone unexpectedly reaches out to me, interviews are wrapped for Book 2. I have a little bit of writing left to do, but not much. I’m on track to have Book 2 published in Spring of 2027. Keep your eyes peeled.

My Dr informed me that we have my Graves Disease under control. All of my labs (except 1) are back in the normal range. I’m going to start taking less meds & hopefully when I go back in Oct, I’ll be in remission officially. Still dealing with the rheumatoid arthritis, but I’m feeling a lot better.

I just sat on a Zoom call with Jen Lynch for the last 2 hours. She knows her Dad was my favorite & I never got to meet him. She told me story after story about my favorite director. It was one of my best conversations ever. Parts of it will be published one day. Other parts are just for me.

Much like Michael Myers himself, “Haddonfield” has risen from the dead & is now back in the Top 50 on Amazon again. Spooky season must be approaching.

Going to get my hands checked out. My endocrinologist said it could be rheumatoid arthritis or carpal tunnel. Writing has been a pain lately but I’m still working. Big thing for me has been trying to keep a positive attitude, with the Graves Disease & now both hands making things difficult.

Was Michael Myers violence ever sexual in nature? I asked several people this question during the making of “Horror in Haddonfield”. Nobody’s answer was as definitive as Halloween 5 director Dominique Othenin-Girard. Did you see Michael’s violence ever as sexual?

In 2018, I asked NOES 2 Director Jack Sholder about the Jesse character & whether or not the subtext surrounding Jesse’s sexuality was intentional. Intentional or not, Jesse would go on to become a horror icon & provide representation for the queer community at a time when there was much less.

People who know more about marketing than me have informed me that I should start promoting “Haddonfield” again. Going back on podcasts, trying to get more reviews & all the ways to get new eyes on the book from now through October. So, I shall - all while writing the next book.

Andrew Grevas @andrewgrevas.com · 29/05/2026

Research question: Do you prefer reading long form interviews (like I did in Haddonfield) or when interviews from multiple people are spliced together in one chapter? I’m currently having a large debate with myself about this.

Andrew Grevas @andrewgrevas.com · 29/05/2026

John Carpenter & Dean Cundey’s work together resulted in some of horror’s most atmospheric shots, that leaned into the genre’s visual past while also pushing it forward. Cundey would tell me of his love of 50s monster films that kickstarted his imagination in our interview for Horror in Haddonfield.

CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST. The version you've never seen. Ruggero Deodato’s cannibal classic Cannibal Holocaust is headed to theaters nationwide from Grindhouse Releasing in a newly restored special edition. Fully uncensored and restored in its native 16mm aspect ratio.

It’s part of what drew me to Ends right away too. You can literally feel how broken Haddonfield is. It reminded me a lot of the heavy feeling of guilt that permeated over the town of Twin Peaks.

I asked Halloween Ends writer Paul Brad Logan about location as character in “Haddonfield”. Here’s an excerpt from that interview:

010

Andrew Grevas @andrewgrevas.com · 28/05/2026

Location adds to the lore of horror series. Haddonfield’s trauma was visible. Springwood tried to contain its dark secrets. Crystal Lake tried to move past its violent history. But all 3 series made their locations a character, which adds additional layers of storytelling over the course of sequels.
