Yes, because what the UK really needed was for a bunch of sexless old puritanical farts to tell us all what we are and are not allowed to wank off to. That'll definitely protect women and children. 🙄

I mean, how can something that has no eyes, ears, skin, nerves, senses of any kind, suffer? Even if LLMs were conscious (they aren't) that consciousness would so totally alien to us how could anything it experiences be translatable as suffering or pain. It has no way of sensing the material world.

Two things here: 1. It's not centrism, it's literal censorship when a state broadcaster (w/ Royal Charter) digitally alters and disseminates an image/message it doesn't like

Stories is such a good way of putting this. Can a novel be full of pain and suffering? Clearly yes. Does a fictional character suffer in the real world? They're fictional don't be a dumbass.

They're going to find it much harder to Cass their way to an adhd ban, but they're going to give it a go anyway. Once again, overplaying their hand. Far more people with kids with adhd than with trans kids. This will hopefully show more people who they really are

Context for the Anthropic "oh no, we must slow down or we'll end the world" nonsense
Cassandra Unchained
@michaeljburry
Let's all take a moment to understand how self-serving it is for OpenAI, Anthropic and other execs of big hyperscalers to talk of slowing things down.
1. LLMs are not AI and won't be AGI. There is nothing AI to slow down.
2. Competition is coming up fast, slowing benefits incumbents.
3. IPOs need hype & puffery; "we are so awesome it could become dangerous" is hype & puffery
4. Cover for real uncontrollable slowing growth as IPOs look to be pushed out

Remember, whenever politicians say shit like this they mean YOUR kids should take X, Y and Z subjects, not their kids. Their kids get to do what they want at their private fee paying schools. It's our kids that are seen as little more than future workers to be exploited. Economic fodder.

As you say though it is in their interest to make shareholders/investors think they can/are close to it. Whether Coxon is or isn't an astroturfer or not, they definitely have an interest in making claims like this for hype and marketing reasons. There's no such thing as bad publicity.

Yes, that is certainly possible. Perhaps I'm too generous in suggesting he is sincere. I guess my point is that it doesn't matter if they CAN make an ASI, the fact they seem to want to is problematic enough.

Anaqueer @anaqueer.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
A question we need to ask though is not, is Coxon full of shit, but what does it say about these people that they believe they ARE working on ASI? given how dangerous it would be. ASI may not be on the horizon but that doesn't mean people who would try to summon it aren't VERY dangerous people. 5/5

Anaqueer @anaqueer.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
Personally I'm inclined to go with 1 with maybe a little of 2. I think some AI bros, including researchers, genuinely do believe that they are working on achieving ASI but I also don't think they are anywhere near close to doing it, nor are they likely ever to be so. 4/5

Possibility 2: Coxon is correct. If so then AI companies are doing something so dangerous and immoral that it makes oil companies look like philanthropists. They are, frankly, the greatest existential threat to humanity and all life there has ever been if this is true. 3/5

Anaqueer @anaqueer.bsky.social · 10/09/2026
Possibility 1: Coxon is sincere but wrong. He has bought the industry's own propaganda and convinced himself of the fantasy of imminent AI superintelligence. This is problematic because it demonstrates the mindset of some of the industry and the dangers of the hype around the technology. 2/5

I see two possibilities with Coxon, the Anthropic AI researcher who quit over fears that the AI industry is breeding a superintelligence that is gonna kill us all. 1/5

Quite. If you debate a pigeon, it will just shit everywhere and then strut around like it won anyway. Debating racists and fascists is pointless because they don't want a debate, they want to get their ugly and bigotted ideas the respectability of being ideas worth debating. It's a win-win for them.

You don't debate these dipshits because it just makes it seem they have a point worth debating. Treat them like flat earthers and ancient aliens and, when they shout "DEBATE ME!", you tell them to fuck the fuck off because it's not worth your time "debating" a thoroughly debunked, racist position.

Notable how a not-insignificant number of the signatories on the letters supporting a racist signed on to letters supporting anti-trans extremists in 2018 or are high-profile anti-trans extremists themselves, almost as if there’s a connection between ‘everything is gender’ and ‘everything is race’

It’s Nathan Cofnas appointments and position which should be under the most intense scrutiny….
Ashkenazi IQ is around 110-112 (sorry, J IQ truthers), but Jewish success goes far beyond what can be explained by IQ alone. It does not follow that Jewish intellectual accomplishment is an illusion or due to nepotism. This is an important point that race realists need to understand.
Jews (particularly Ashkenazim) were subject to evolutionary selection pressures-presumably the ability to succeed in white-collar professions and/or Talmudic study-that favored higher general intelligence (g). The same selection pressures would have favored non-g traits and abilities that contribute to success in business or scholarship. Some of these traits and abilities may not be measured by IQ tests.
There are obviously personality differences between Jews and non-Jews. Jews are stereotyped as being, for example,
"shrewd,"
and we know that stereotypes generally have a basis
in reality. On average, Jews are better than gentiles at capitalizing on their g. It's not a coincidence that Chris Langan (loser with IQ 200) is a gentile and Stephen Jay Gould (dazzling
"genius" with IQ 125) is a Jew.
We see a similar phenomenon with East Asians. A Korean American with an IQ of 105 is way more likely to graduate from college, get a white-collar job, and make a lot of money than his non-Asian/non-Jewish IQ equal. That's not because Koreans are cheaters, but because Korean IQ 105 is different from British IQ 105. link.springer.com/article/10.100...
