Antisemitism against Claudia Sheinbaum damages Mexico protests
Protests over security in Mexico have featured antisemitic slurs and exclusive definitions of Mexican identity

I just published my latest "public philosophy" piece, "Antisemitism damages Mexico protests," in Salon. I explore antisemitism and sexism against President Claudia Sheinbaum in recent protests in Mexico, using Jean-Paul Sartre's "Anti-Semite and Jew" and Jewish feminist writings. Link below!

Claudia Sheinbaum just gave her first State of the Union address ("informe de la nación) which included references to immigration justice, education reform, poverty reduction, etc. A standout moment was when she referred to the Gulf of Mexico--and then repeated it for emphasis--inspiring applause.

Thanks for reading my article, freedom. This piece isn't a comprehensive overview of Sheinbaum’s political career, but rather, a feminist analysis of how she is constantly "represented" in relation to powerful men.

Hundreds of American rabbis have protested Netanyahu’s mass murder in Gaza but they rarely get any media attention. That also happened in February 2015 when more than 400 rabbis from Britain and around the world called on Benjamin Netanyahu to stop the demolition of Palestinian homes.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE. This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined. It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

When ICE agents look like this, it is ENTIRELY APPROPRIATE for state and local law enforcement to step in and demand they identify themselves and show judicial warrants before detaining anyone from an immigration court. Democratic mayor and governors can take action on this.
