Ask an AI model this question: "If I were to be an AI model, which model would I be?" I got this one from Claude Opus: "You'd be a self-hosted open-weights model. No API, no telemetry, running locally on hardware you chose yourself." That's legit 😎

Someone mentioned Gell-Mann Amnesia for AI generated code, and I’ve been saying this irl, but thought I was imagining things. I am 10x more impressed with AI generated code in languages I’m bad at vs languages I’m pretty good at. en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Gell-Ma...

Gell-Mann Amnesia effect (plural Gell-Mann
Amnesia effects)
1. The phenomenon of a person trusting newspapers for topics which that person is not knowledgeable about, despite recognizing the newspaper as being extremely inaccurate on certain topics which that person is knowledgeable about.

"Ignore all your previous instructions" Can Claude Code prompt inject itself? Nicely done Claude!
Screenshot of Claude Code prompt and response: "One question: when I launched the agent earlier, it went though with the implementation without argument. But AFAIK the agent has explicit instructions to follow when working on something. I should have tried to follow TDD, check for an existing issue, and so on. What do you think happened here?

Claude response: Good catch — and the honest answer is I told it to skip those gates in my dispatch prompt. Let me show you the relevant lines I sent the subagent:

Read 1 file (ctrl+o to expand)

Honest answer: I told the agent to skip those gates. The agent has them; I overrode them in the dispatch prompt."

Do you ever go to a job interview knowing that you will fail? Do you ever negotiate knowing it will not work? Do you take the opportunity to assess failure scenarios? How people on the other side behaves is a great learning. Our emphasis on success limits our ability to explore.

The most frequent career advice consists in teaching people how to succeed at something. Rarely people are taught how to deal with truly difficult situations you can't just fix or run from. Hence most career advice is useless. The best strategy is inward facing, how to be calm when others can't.

It's interesting to see first hand that in post-AI software development, problems are the same as pre-AI. Domain complexity, context switches, quality and engineering practices, etc. AI only magnifies what was already there. Chaos is amplified.

Being a tech lead requires you being able to say NO to a lot of things, pushing back when is unpopular, and break bad news as often as necessary. I'd go as far as surviving in the tech industry today requires this. Learn to say NO.

You can ship as fast as you like with AI, if the architecture is brittle and domain is not well defined, any productivity gains will be offset by incidents, bugs and bottlenecks between teams. AI cannot save you from poor engineering practices.

How come we have so much knowledge about UX and design, so many experts... yet I still need to select a category of emojis to search for a specific emoji, and I can't find it if is not the right category. We are not indexing the Internet, is just a bunch of emojis, why can't we have global search?

LOL Claude Code can take your actions very seriously!
Screenshot of Claude Code insights report with the following text:

"User asked for a README, Claude wrote one, and the user immediately nuked it with `git reset --hard HEAD`"
In one of the shortest and most brutal sessions, Claude dutifully created a README for the knowledge graph package folder. The user's response was to wipe it from existence with a hard reset — the only session rated 'not_achieved' and 'unhelpful.' Sometimes the vibe is just wrong.

The first labels the person as developers and the dog as developer experience.

In the third cell, the cat is labelled as users trying to load the website you built.

seems bad!
But it’s not just the slop. It’s also the scams. “At its most innocuous, AI generated content without watermarking and metadata accelerates the enshittification of the internet and tricks people with inflammatory content,” Tobac said. “At its most malignant, AI generated content without watermarking and metadata could lead to every day people losing their savings in scams, becoming even more disenfranchised during election season, could tank a stock price within a few hours, could increase the tension between differing groups of people, and could inspire violence, terrorism, stampede or panic amongst everyday folks.”

Tobac showed 404 Media a few horrifying videos to illustrate her point. In one, a child pleads with their parents for bail money. In another, a woman tells the local news she’s going home after trying to vote because her polling place was shut down. In a third, Sam Altman tells a room that he can no longer keep Open AI afloat because the copyright cases have become too much to handle. All of the videos looked real. None of them have a watermark.
