for my Random Game Saturday I am going to show off a new game in my Famicom collection: Binary Land. Despite being a simple single-screen arcade style game it remains one of my favorites. It also has a very romantic backstory that's too cute.

25 years ago you could see the smoke from ground zero for miles. I remember all it took was a short drive to the shore to see it looming over the horizon. My parents were calling me to make sure I was safe even though I was so far away from it (but I was even farther away from them.)

Many Space Harrier home ports often reduced graphics to chunky rectangles to get it running at all. The NEC PC-6001 is the most extreme case where almost everything is a rectangle. I love it.

I recommend Freaked (1993.) Screaming Mad George was one of three special effects studios brought in to create the wild visuals in the film. You can tell the artists really had fun making the effects, given free reign to be as creative as they wanted to be.
