Something the VRchat devs who support AI fail to realize is that VRchat is some peoples only escape from the pervasive horror that AI is causing for so many of us. To allow AI into that space is to destroy that safe haven, that escape.

My rejection of AI has nothing to do with the quality of the output, or how much of it was human made. It is a rejection of the idea that a handful of rich individuals get to take everything from us, and sell it back to us as a subscription. Any platform that embraces AI is embracing that notion.

As I wrote in my response, the problem with Generative AI is not quality, or misleading authorship. Its a technology that spits in the face of the creatives it steals from. It is genuinely a plague on society, and its stewards are the richest sociopaths in modern history.

i get why AI is so depressing to me. because covid already shrunk my world to almost nothing, where almost all of my life revolves around socializing and watching videos on the internet (which is being ruined by AI) and creating creative works through coding (which is being ruined by AI), often using open source tools and libraries (which are being ruined by AI)

i already had so little and now even that is being rotted away before my eyes
