#TheLighthouseWitches is a stand-alone book inspired by the #witch hunts in #Scotland. But there is so much more to the story. I really enjoyed the book & perfect for a Fall read. Not scary in the traditional sense. Not spicy. History says they burned witches but they burned women. #booksky

Selected #AnInheritanceOfMagic because I ❤️ the #AlexVerus books. I do this frequently. Picking a book because of the author. With mixed results. Lately, my picker has been broken. This was a DNF at halfway through. Heavy world building. Unique magic. This may be a me problem. Not the book. #booksky

#TheNightPrince is the 2nd book of a trilogy. The 3rd book is scheduled for release, May 2027. Like the 1st book I was slow to get fully immersed. I frequently considered adding it to the DNF. But something kept pushing me on. Then, suddenly, I was ready to stay up all night reading. #booksky #Blake

I was iffy about book 1, but I went ahead and got book 2, #MagicBurns. I really wanted to like this series. The blurb sounds like something I'd like. I ❤️ another book by the authors. Proof that books are not formulas. #DNF. So opening another 2nd questionable book. Glutton for punishment. #booksky

1/3 I'm a fan of the #DresdenFiles. (Despite accusations of misogyny.) It made getting into #MagicBites very difficult. The premise was too familiar. All too similar yet completely different. There was also that feeling of, this isn't the first book... I'm missing too much. #booksky

There weren't any surprises in #TheWolfKing. It's much of what you'd expect. But the characters kept me interested. Actually a side character. Whatever are they up to? No spoilers here. Grab your favorite beverage & take a shot every time woodsmoke is mentioned. Not sure I'll continue. 😄 #booksky

#ACOTAR 6, #ACourtofSplinteredHarmony, has a projected release day of 10/27/26. I checked my #library and was able to get on the wait list. 5th in line. ::happy dance:: Now I just have to hope the book is better than that title. #booksky

1/2 #ThisKingdomWillNotKillMe is not an easy read. It is full of details. Things that make you stop & think. If this had been an ebook, there would have been so many highlighted passages. #booksky

Finally, I have my hands on a book I have been looking forward to. I tossed the book I was reading - figuratively. Quiet space achieved. Snacks & beverage at hand. Please don't be disappointing. It's a real fear. I have had a few duds this year. #ThisKingdomWillNotKillMe #IlonaAndrews #booksky

What can you tell from this picture? I take my own photos (usually). I borrow from the #library. This book looks well traveled. #Firestorm is my favorite #AnnaPigeon book yet. I mainly picked it up because it was at hand. Glad I did. May give the series a few more tries. #booksky #NevadaBarr

#Delusional is the 18th #MichaelBennett book. I was a little slow in the beginning of this book. *I* because it isn't always the book. Took a break & came back. Turned into an action packed story. I have missed a few books. Might check the #library for those. Good cop/family stories. #booksky

I just got really excited! I read the #4MK #MonkeyKiller trilogy years ago & it still comes to mind. 3 & done. Right? Not anymore. #J.D.Barker has started a prequel trilogy. #TheFirstScarletDoor is scheduled for release Sep 22, 2026. If you haven't read 4MK it starts with #TheFourthMonkey. #booksky

Do you like #football? Boy, do I have a book for you. But it isn't about football. This book makes me think of high school reunions. Something I never attended. #TheCountryRoadMurders starts out good. But football is the MC's anchor to EVERYTHING. Husband liked it. I got annoyed. #DNF. #booksky

1/2 #IllWind is part of the #AnnaPigeon series. This book takes place in Mesa Verde. A place of unanswered questions. Honestly I was hoping for... oops, that could be a spoiler. There is a character I very much like named Nora Kelly. #booksky

Book 2 of the #AnnaPigeon series. I didn't like #ASuperiorDeath as much as the 1st book. But will give it credit for eccentric characters & some stories that did not proceed as expected. Trigger warnings ⚠️ for mention of pedophilia, DV, incest. Thanks to the #library on to the next book. #booksky

Early 2000's #TheLadyOfTheRivers book 1 of 16 by #PhilippaGregory. Henry the 8th was always my perfect #HistoricalFiction time period. Tudor & Plantagenet eras. Drama, even if you know the ending. These are not 🌶️at least not by today's standard. More, mild intimacy. #booksky

Speaking of old books... I thought I might mention a few of my favorites. 1989 #TheFool'sRun, book 1 of 4 in this completed series. A rare time when completed made me sad. I loved the characters. I have been hoping for many years that #JohnSandford would bring them back. Just 1 more caper. #booksky

I saw ads for the #AnnaPigeon TV show, so I went to the source. #TrackOfTheCat is the 1st book. There are cassette tapes. 😄 Copyright 1993. Nothing wrong with an old book. Glad the #library still had them. Park warden turned sleuth. I like strong FMC. Especially when they aren't perfect. #booksky

#CarvedInBone is book 1 of 10. Great if you have a morbid curiosity. The University of Tennessee Anthropological Research Facility, widely known as the "Body Farm" is dedicated to the science of death. The real-life scientist now spins astonishing tales inspired by his own experiences. #booksky

Ever had a hard to put down book but didn't want to read the series? That's been #VirtueFalls for me. This book has some slow spots between great story telling. Yet... I can't explain why the apathy. This is the 1st book in a 4 book series. I'm stopping here. No cliffhanger ending. Tidy. #booksky

Seeing this made me look back. The 1st 40ish pages weren't good. But I'd read so many good things. I continued on. The story picked up. Then it got all twisty & turney. Then the ending just, fell flat. This book left me anxious and unfulfilled. I'm not meant for popular books. #booksky #GoneGirl

Wow. Only made it 59 pages of #Yesteryear before pulling the plug... um, bookmark. I generally dislike multiple time line stories. I'm not sure how many this book intended I suffer through. And what a hateful main character. #DNF. Not for me. The idea was intriguing. The execution horrible. #booksky

#CourtOfSerpentsAndSecrets Final book. Fae, vikings & zombies; oh my. All of these books have been about 300 pages. And when my eyes weren't so old, would have been a 1 day read. They were fun & fast paced. Good characters. Enough to ignore the mistakes. Face value entertainment. #booksky

#CourtOfMonstersAndMalice ended with a surprise I suspected & 1 out of nowhere. I think our FMC may be, temporarily, over her head. We shall see. Next book downloaded. I keep forgetting to mention, at the beginning of each book there has been a catch up chapter. I WISH this happened more. #booksky

#CourtOfGreedAndGold is book 2 of 4 in the #TheShadowBoundQueen series. And, of course, another cliffhanger ending. But it's a finished series so on to book 3. I noticed a few more typos in this book. Slow burn continues. Author manages that & spicy scenes too. #booksky #ElizaRaine #Vikings

Ohhh slow burn. I like a man that says he'll wait for what he wants. #CourtOfRavensAndRuin. Yes it's dark fae and a mysterious human. But what fun. Abrupt end with major enormous cliffhanger. But that's OK. Already bought the next ebook. I believe this is a finished 4 book series. #booksky

1/2 #Butter,Sugar,Magic was not the lighthearted Hallmark-ish story I expected. It started out that way but lost it's sense of humor along the way. I have enjoyed a few #midlife books. Usually full of humor. This is the first book of the series. Not sure that I care to follow along. #booksky

#DNF #Lion&Lamb. I normally like #Patterson. And my husband thought I'd like the strong female character. I gave it 100 boring pages. I severely dislike the way it's written. The transcribed conversations were just annoying. Not to mention the cutesy names. Somebody was trying to hard. #booksky

#Obsessed is book 15 in the #MichaelBennett series. Honest cop as head of a good #Catholic family with 10 kids. Nice clean fun. I've enjoyed this series over the years. Confession time. I sometimes forget the book blurbs between choosing a book & reading it. So #TheFrozenRiver came as quite the surprise. My brain was in fairytale mode. And instead, I got enjoyable trip into early American history. Not usually my source of historical fiction. #booksky #ArielLawhon

My shelves filled up. Then the stacks started. I told my husband one of us would be found buried under books. So I bought e-books. He hated it. I hoarded on it. #Library to the rescue. Those borrowed books get read instead getting dusty. And the books I buy get donated to the library. Win! #booksky
