#SuspendLogic. I guess some would say we do that a lot when we read. Especially in sci-fi or fantasy. But my idea of suspending logic is more about, when a character's behavior is illogical. 1987. I almost didn't even post this. I didn't realize how old #HotIce was until there were things in the book that didn't feel right. When #NoraRoberts used the phrase, sitting Indian style, I knew something was off. I #DNF at 63%. Again, this is probably on me. Overtired & underwhelmed. #booksky

I have a gooseneck floor lamp that offers multiple settings. Colors & brightness. But the suggestion was more about placement. The light should be behind your shoulder. I moved my lamp ~18 inches. I read late... early into the morning. No #eyestrain. From moving my light source. #booksky

Weird post. Let's call it a PSA. I have been having vision problems while #reading. Eyes get tired. Vision gets blurry. I chalked it up to age. But I went onto the net looking for solutions. Nothing I found seemed very practical. But I kept seeing suggestions about #lighting. #booksky

#TheLighthouseWitches is a stand-alone book inspired by the #witch hunts in #Scotland. But there is so much more to the story. I really enjoyed the book & perfect for a Fall read. Not scary in the traditional sense. Not spicy. History says they burned witches but they burned women. #booksky

#TheNightPrince is the 2nd book of a trilogy. The 3rd book is scheduled for release, May 2027. Like the 1st book I was slow to get fully immersed. I frequently considered adding it to the DNF. I was iffy about book 1, but I went ahead and got book 2, #MagicBurns. I really wanted to like this series. The blurb sounds like something I'd like. I ❤️ another book by the authors. 2/3 While some authors spend a lot of time setting up the world, #IlonaAndrews just jumps in with both feet. I was 90, or so, pages in before it really caught my attention. Then it got good. Until it bogged down in a fight scene. #booksky

1/3 I'm a fan of the #DresdenFiles. (Despite accusations of misogyny.) It made getting into #MagicBites very difficult. The premise was too familiar. All too similar yet completely different. There was also that feeling of, this isn't the first book... I'm missing too much. #booksky

2/2 I frequently complain that books are too long. I also often find that I am annoyed by long detailed descriptions. This book never felt guilty of the 1st offense. And while it did get a bit detailed, it never bothered me until I approached the end & I couldn't read fast enough. #booksky

I made attempts at 2 stories. 1 about the things you see out of the corner of your eye. The other about a deranged serial killer that kills random strangers. She kept showing up in my dreams. I discovered that I can be a storyteller but suck at writing a story. Especially conversation.

Seeing this made me look back. The 1st 40ish pages weren't good. But I'd read so many good things. I continued on. The story picked up. Then it got all twisty & turney. Then the ending just, fell flat. This book left me anxious and unfulfilled. I'm not meant for popular books. #booksky #GoneGirl
