Me, as a 4-leaf-clover:

I know I keep going on about the house getting hit by lightning, but to us, it was kind of a big deal. We lost two ceiling lights, a set of fairy lights (they melted), and some Ethernet, but we were lucky. If we hadn’t had the electricity redone in 2023, we might have had a house fire!

After the lightning, my husband burned stuff on the stove and was airing out the place. Then the cat was acting weird—a mouse had walked inside. We had a nursery rhyme going on—me chasing the dog, dog chasing the cat, cat chasing a mouse. All while E was playing a waltz on violin in the basement.

Our house got struck by lightning tonight, and it was LOUD. Thankfully, only a tiny piece of the roof fell off (we’ve got 70 year old clay tiles, and they’re strong), and the whole street has electrical problems, but no fires!

Sorry I’m mostly a lurker. Life at home isn’t fun to share, and I don’t want to add to the world’s weight. Anyway, tomorrow I’m taking my 2nd born to the suicide watch clinic. The one my first-born went to 4 years ago. Why is this happening? Why both kids? What did I do wrong?

Now that’s it’s not freezing outside, we’ve got a game: put all the balls in, and take then out.

One of hundreds of people abducted by ICE and sold to slavery in El Salvador was a 19 year old with no criminal record in the US or Venezuela and no tattoos of any kind. An ICE kidnapper who grabbed him outside his house said, "He's not the one." The other said, "Take him anyway." So they did.
Wilmer only found out his son had been detained after receiving a phone call on March 15 from his nephew, Luis, who lives with them. That morning was their last time together; they had gone around the corner to do their laundry. Later that day, Wilmer said that his son met with a friend to get help with some errands at the American Red Cross. He learned this from Luis, who looked at the situation from inside the apartment: when his son was on his way back, just steps from his home when ICE agents stopped him. “The officers grabbed him and two other boys right at the entrance to our building. One said, ‘No, he’s not the one,’ like they were looking for someone else. But the other said, ‘Take him anyway.'”

That moment marked the beginning of Wilmer’s search for answers — answers he’s still waiting for.

This is terrifying in America. ICE agents are showing up masked—these abductions must stop. If you’re going to detain someone, show your face, present a warrant, and proper ID. Disappearing people from their families without evidence or accountability isn’t law enforcement—it’s state-sponsored fear.

Really not here for dire wolves. Not bc I hate wolves, but because I can’t stand the Alpha Male fetishization (that’s a word) of anything, and also we have dogs; we don’t need to play with their DNA anymore than we already did.

Today, my mom introduced my nephew (he’s autistic) to a woman with a puppy, and explained that “he’s 5 but can’t tell you that.” Then the woman said, “there’s a cure for that, you know. It’s all natural, and will get rid of his toxicities.” 🤬🤬🤬 I wanted to slap her through the phone.

On Sunday, I did a day-long pilgrimage, and we walked over the old East-West german border. We carried rocks from the west to the east, and left them at a chapel that had been used by DDR soldiers as a hangout and then restored in the 90.
The medieval chapel in Friedland, Lower Saxony. It’s stone with a short belfry and surrounded by grass. The sky is gray.A sign along the Loccum-Volkenroda pilgrimage, showing the setup of the former border crossing between Lower Saxony and Thüringen. A wooden sign saying “Pilgerweg” with a round metal sign showing “no pooping dogs allowed” below it.A wooden carved lion, painted, on the pulpit in an old church in Germany. It’s cute and somewhat childish. Endearing. I want it.
