A relaxing bicycle ride last week from village to village. Found the spot where I encountered a #hare at dawn, which inspired my hare paintings. Here are two postcards from the 'Hares in Half-Light' Postcard and Greetings Card set now available from my online shop: amandatamsin.fr/products/har...

I've been painting hares recently and doing a little research on these creatures. Here's a great article by Lari Don from @folklorethursday.bsky.social website. Beliefs around hares are diverse, yet with interesting commonalities, i.e around shape-shifting... folklorethursday.com/easter/chasi...

Seen green Praying Mantis on our walks before, but this one's the same colour as this year's dried grass. Camouflage or coincidence? On a vu les Mantes Religieuses vertes sur nos balades, mais celle-ci est le même couleur que l’herbe sèche de cette année. Camouflage ou coincidence? #InsectThursday

Tomorrow’s full moon falls in Weodmōnaþ, the Anglo-Saxon name for August. Writing in AD 725, Bede explains it means “month of weeds”, referring to plants flourishing abundantly at this time. The Anglo-Saxons measured their months by the course of the moon. #FolkloreThursday

Hello #FolkloreThursday Maybe randomly, I placed Ginkgo leaves with a hare in this artwork (partly shown). Am trying to discover how Ginkgo Biloba & Hare may be connected (initial thoughts below). I'd love to learn more about these elements and/or their pairing from a folklore POV, if you can help.

The first of two hare paintings inspired by two encounters with these creatures. I have kept detail on these creatures to a minimum, to capture their softness, brevity and magic, in the low light where I saw them. More on the encounters below. 1/3 #harepainting #lièvre #natureinspiredart
