I just love looking at Ed Benedict's early designs for Hanna-Barbera characters. He embraced the UPA style and understood how to make these designs work within limited animation. He was one of the artists who gave the studio its identity in the early years.

Can attest — worked with and knew quite a bunch of them. Oddly enough, the tech parents I knew were decidedly non-tech with quality time for their families. The single/non-parent ones were and are the worst though. It's like they think they can stay being 27 for the rest of their lives.

And finished, this took me quite some time, as reusable content is actually minimal and had to redo many things 🥲 but anyway, I also exported a monochrome version to see how could it work for book guard pages.

I usually design my business cards to be conversation-starters. But at after too many endless awkward discussions at recent events, I realized I needed a new type of card. The conversation-ender.

A stack of business cards reads in English and Korean: Generative AI is unethical, annoying, and anti-art. Anything it touches will fail, and be a mark of shame on human history. I do not wish to discuss this further.

We're facing quite a paradigm shift. From having our tastes and likes and fandoms and whatnot shaped by mass media, to realizing all of that now turbo sucks and we'd need to start over somehow (that's the discourse I hear from grumpy animators about the industry, at least).

If feedback of my programming peers is any indication, AI in coding is here to stay. Some still resist but most have just shrugged it off as par for the course, seeing they won’t likely keep their jobs otherwise. And objectively speaking the increase in output and dev speed have been game changers.

Glad to see we share pretty much the same musical tastes. For me these albums make the soundtrack for a much happier life time (for me anyways), or is it my rose-tinted rear view mirrors deceiving me. Aaanyway 🥲 K&D/Tosca was also influential on me at that time.

Tbh I can't get any more new books into my house without selling/giving away some first. On middle grade (K-12) material, paper is still king but older readers might just settle on digital. I'm no purist, but something is always lost when dispensing with the physical format.

Crowdfunding a la Kickstarter et al sadly isn't a thing in my country yet so financing creative projects is extremely hard as is unless you get lucky to win a state grant or pony up the moolah yourself. Therefore Matt's "experiment" is of special interest to me and I'm glad he's succeeding at it.

I still have around 500 vinyl records collected since the 90s (they were dirt cheap back then). On hard times I've had to sell part of the collection, and seeing how I've got no heirs interested on the loot (or willing to pay me fairly for it), now I gotta think what to do.

I've seen lots of faux pas in comics, both amateur and professional, but the one which always irks me is two balloon tails crossing each other, sword-like... come on, how about re-arranging your scene so you don't have that? That's why now I start with the lettering to figure out the rest.
