sometimes i think about that thing a disco elysium dev said in response to someone asking why choosing fascist options lowers your morale. that being a fascist is miserable, since it requires you to believe that you are being dominated by the weak and unworthy in everything you do.

Kare 11 local news just read, in full, this statement from Michael and Susan Pretti, the parents of Alex Pretti. "Please get the truth out about our son."

Statement from Michael and Susan Pretti
Parents of Alex Jeffrey Pretti

“We are heartbroken but also very angry.

Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately, he will not be with us to see his impact.

I do not throw around the ‘hero’ term lightly. However, his last thought and act was to protect a woman. The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He had his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down, all while being pepper sprayed.

Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you.

it’s come to my attention that my tumblr post has been crossposted to bluesky, so I’m posting it on my account here #AntiAI #GenAI

recently my friend's comics professor told her that it's acceptable to use gen AI for script-writing but not for art, since a machine can't generate meaningful artistic work. meanwhile, my sister's screenwriting professor said that they can use gen AI for concept art and visualization, but that it won't be able to generate a script that's any good. and at my job, it seems like each department says that AI can be useful in every field except the one that they know best.

It's only ever the jobs we're unfamiliar with that we assume can be replaced with automation. The more attuned we are with certain processes, crafts, and occupations, the more we realize that gen AI will never be able to provide a suitable replacement. The case for its existence relies on our ignorance of the work and skill required to do everything we don't.

one thing about Durand's Legacy Taliyah is that she doesn't look even a little bit like Taliyah like I know you don't see a character's face much in-game, but this is genuinely an ASTONISHING lack of likeness

Screenshot of Taliyah's in-game model from League of Legends, zoomed in on her face to catch the details

While the plagiarism and anti-labor aspects of AI are obviously super bad, this is an aspect that imo we really need to push more re: anti-AI messaging. its propping up climate-destroying industries and is a MASSIVE resource drain at a time where our resources should really be used more wisely

oh it's been too long since there's been a good Heist™

Screenshot of text reading:
"Police sources told Le Parisien that raiders entered via the Seine-facing facade where renovation work is underway, using an outside lift and freight elevator to access the Galerie d'Apollon.
Le Parisien and other outlets reported that thieves stole nine pieces from Napoleon and the Empress's jewellery collection and fled on moto-scooters.
Officials reported that there were no injuries and said it remained unclear exactly what had been stolen as detectives coordinate with Louvre staff on the investigation."

WIP panel preview I'm as much a fan of our kind and gentle Pact Marshal as the next person, but I confess I'm just as fond of Trahearne's more "fierce" side alluded to in the canonical story - something "The Harbinger's Path" will explore that I've always wanted to see :D #GuildWars2 #GW2 #sylvari
