And to clarify, MIXTAPE is now opt-in? Because I have (almost) no issue with the program not being opt-out.

use it in another piece without permission (Vanilla Ice stealing a piece of Under Pressure) This is misuse of the artists original work and is absolutely not ok. Hence why Vanilla Ice had to settle out of court with Queen.

I do think the DJ analogy isn't exactly a good 1 to 1 in this situation anyways. My original concept when I responded though was that if a hack was the original art (Under Pressure) and then you pick out a piece from that hack and...

Twitch product guy on the new AI garbo saying "if it was opt-in no one would opt-in" that smells familiar to a recent thing that came out a whole bunch of people did not ask for or want either. Exploitative thing cannot function as intended unless everyone is unwittingly put into it... 🤔

I don't like this Kaizo mixtape shit. I don't have much of a philosophical problem with remixing art. I'm a collagist. But the inherent disrespect, greedy commodification and the AI that facilitates it is reprehensible. All I need to say. Muting this because I don't want to hear from yinz clowns.

Why should "a lot of creators" speak for all creators?

030

Alyssa (She/her) 🏳️‍⚧️ @alyssasmw.bsky.social · 10/08/2026

Perfectly fine, but if you're using someone else's art in a way other than intended. Then you should have the artists permission first (opt-in vs opt-out)

Since I have seen it go and make rounds and it being officially now being promoted, its time for me to just add my two cents to the whole "Mixtape & Kazioff" thing. Back in the past, we had a whole drama situation with a Iron Mario Bros tool, simply due to how we hack creators were treated. 1/10

The key point here is asking for permission *first*. I'm unfamiliar with the DJ scene specifically but see the Under Pressure x Ice Ice Baby for what happens when you use something without permission first.

Wanna know what sounds fun? Chopping up art from 20 different artists and Frankenstein'ing them all together and showing it off in front of others! All without the permission of the artists ofc :) (Obv sarcasm is obv)
