Over 6 yrs ago, with the world in lock down, we started this thing called #FancyFriday. A reason to get dressed up and socially interact despite isolation. It's been an amazing way to meet people and unwind at the end of the week. However, effective today, I will no longer be hosting this event.

I've never been one to think of cars as more than machines. That was until I bought my 340i during COVID. It was the first time in my life I bought exactly the car I wanted. I love Raven and have grown very attached to her. Which makes this SUPER painful. Really hoping they'll fix her.

In a win for @ubiquiti.bsky.social, I found out yesterday that my neighbors cut my fiber line while installing a new fence TWO MONTHS AGO. Thanks to the WAN redundancy/load balancing in my Dream Machine, I didn't even notice. Obviously I need to setup some alerting.

Reaching that point in the job search now where the anxiety is becoming a daily struggle. I wish I could say I'm stunned at how poorly companies treat candidates, but I've watched it for years. Still, being on the receiving end of it has been somewhat eye opening.

So yes, after day 200, I've stopped posting #HackerFit. Not because I've stopped working out and watching my diet, but because I'm holding steady at a weight and body image Im happy with. When I have an occasion to wear my goal dress, I'll post one more pic to cap it off 🙂

A reminder: for many, asking for help is hard. Pay attention to your friends/family. If they're going through something, no matter how sure you are that "they've got this", know that they may not just need help, they may be desperately hoping you offer it without them asking.

Some people aren't good at asking for help because they are used to being "The Helper". Throughout their life, they've expereinced and unbalanced give and take so their instinct is usually "I'll figure it out on my own".

Land at JFK on an int'l flight with a connection to a domestic flight. After passport control they make you claim checked bag, then walk a few thousand feet (with no interaction with CBP) to "re-check" you bag which is handing it to an airline person who sends it back to baggage handing. WTF??

I must be getting old. More and more I find myself wishing for an only adults allowed area in the airport where I could escape from others' energetic and loud children. No shade meant for anyone, traveling with littles is hard work. I'd just like a quiet place to chill before my flight please.

Its a really screwed up feeling when all you want to do is cry it out but you can't even get yourself to cry. Like you know you'll feel a little better if you could just bawl for a bit but instead you're just stuck teetering on the edge of tears with a heavy weight on your chest and no release.
