Go and support Vivi! She was instrumental in getting me into vtubing, and I may be making an appearance during this as well!

With my postgrad dissertation handed in, the last thing I need to do is a (recorded) video presentation for it, meaning I unearthed and reconnected my streaming setup for the first time in a long time. Maybe I'll come back to streaming again.

It's not equal to what happened to PSO2 with the NGS update, since PSO2 was basically done as a game, but ANet's focus on "movement" and "momentum" in marketing just reminds me of the big empty areas of NGS over PSO2's more tightly focused combat rooms.

Hot take: I think deciding to make Guild Wars 3 was a terrible decision by ANet.

Oh, yeah, now that Subnautica 2 is out, I can talk about what I worked on in it: You know the Proteavirus central to the game's plot? I designed that! I provided a 20 page document on exactly how it works, how it evolved, what the mechanism for all the wild shit it does is!

A screenshot from the Subnautica 2 credits saying

Regex = Regular expressions. It's a string formatted in a particular way that you can then use for validating other data. `^(?=.*[a-z])(?=.*[A-Z])(?=.*\d)(?=.*[@$!%*?&])[A-Za-z\d@$!%*?&]{12,}$` would work for a text box that checks if your password is long enough and meets complexity requirements

Super Robot Wars 30 is not the 30th game in the series. That's silly. It's the game made to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the series. It's the 48th game in the series.

By the time companies tried to regain the mobile space, the only way to make the sort of money demanded was to fill it with microtransactions and/or gacha elements

030

Alysia Yuunagi | 夕凪アリシア @alysia.yuunagi.uk · 07/12/2025

I'd argue what happened was that "serious" developers basically conceded the mobile game space entirely to two groups of people: - Micro-transaction slop, the sort you see with fake or AI generated ads. - Gacha titles with enormous marketing budgets; your Cygameses, your Mihoyos and so on
