Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 21/07/2023Isn’t it weird that they only have HCD comment letters from 2022 on their website. 120
Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 21/07/2023I’m going to read/skim these city’s housing elements. I’m so morbidly curious. 130
Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 21/07/2023Shout out to the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin for their excellent, fact based reporting of the last decade or so of their rapid descent into madness, religious control and fanaticism. Here is a piece on the last election. This is when the current school board president was elected.dailybulletin.comWhat voters need to know about the Chino Valley Unified electionThe school district is at a “crossroads,” the four candidates agree. 110
Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 21/07/2023Shout out to the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin for doing some really great reporting on the last school board election, the one where their school board president raised 74k, 50k of which came from a school district vendor.dailybulletin.comWhat voters need to know about the Chino Valley Unified electionThe school district is at a “crossroads,” the four candidates agree. 000
Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 21/07/2023I just fell down a 90 minute local government rabbit hole learning about the cities of chino and chino hills (guess what makes them different!), their councils, and especially this school board. Their school board politics over the last decade is some of the worst I’ve ever seen, ever. 160
Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 13/07/2023Bizarre that they can’t just give it to you now but if this fixes the tedious problem then it sounds like youd have one less tedious problem than you do now. Hell yeah. 110
Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 13/07/2023This sounds like one of like, the most stressful situations. How are you doing? 110
Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 13/07/2023This, my friends, is a superb use of taxpayer money and police resources. So glad that Norm is home safe. We have zero tolerance for dognapping and dog extortion in Sunnyvale. www.cbsnews.com/amp/sanfrancisco/ne…cbsnews.comSunnyvale family reunited with lost dog after extortion attempt – 'We're so thankful'Authorities in Sunnyvale have arrested a man after he found a lost dog Monday night and allegedly tried to extort $1,000 from the dog's owners. 040
Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 13/07/2023I’d need actual legal advice from my city attorney but my general attitude is that you’re going to need to make me. 010
Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 13/07/2023Our council is far from unhinged. It was just a wild and crazy meeting confusing to many. But! Unlike many cities, we arrived at a consensus to say yes to housing on a massive scale. 120
Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 13/07/2023Also, god bless you for remembering crow twitter! What a time to be alive. 110
Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 13/07/2023Lmaoooo And yes. Yes the end result was based actually. I still have some legitimate concerns but what we accomplished was really great. 100
Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 13/07/2023What we ended up voting to approve was very hinged. The proceedings were less so. 110
Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 12/07/2023When holocaust denial comes up we turn off the mic. You’re done. Bye. I mean, we argue, engage in occasional pettiness and carry on like any deliberative body. But this meeting was an outlier. 240
Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 12/07/2023I’ve been getting calls all day calling it “unhinged” 220
Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 12/07/2023No actually! My council is known regionally as being maybe the most measured and sane around. We were really on one last night. 160
Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 12/07/2023But more specifically, the Sunnyvale city council votes twitter account has this: 020
Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 12/07/2023Thanks for asking. I’m fine, nothing that rises above what you simply come to expect on twitter. 010
Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 12/07/2023I barely post on threads. I know that app has been breaking records so why shouldn’t this be one too. 010

Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 12/07/2023Plant some trees problem solved! Im sure that’s all it was about. /s Dealing with the housing piece of all of this is a necessary part of making meaningful steps to reduce or end homelessness, but not the only one. The state has funded other good programs and should keep doing that too. 040
Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 12/07/2023Building permanent supportive and permanent extremely low income housing is a very hard for cities to do (or want to do) even if the state were to throw money at them. The housed residents organize and fight tooth and nail to prevent it from happening. A state mandate + money might happen. 190
Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 12/07/2023Some of that money has gone to fund transitional housing initiatives. But having a temporary place to stay isn’t a great long term solution if there are no permanent housing available to transition into. Im not aware of state funding for that. The state does not itself build housing. Cities do. 150
Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 12/07/2023Hard to get a handle on it when we refuse to build enough homes, making it so that scarcity continues to drive up rents. People get boxed out of the rental market entirely, putting more people on the street faster than we can hope to rehouse them. It’s really fucked. 190
Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 12/07/2023You resign yourself to receiving them every birthday and holiday from here on out, from more and more people as they see you getting them from others. 230
Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 11/07/2023Yes like the peanut butter you are correct. Conversation over no one is allowed to reply to this. 100
Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 11/07/2023I hope bluesky never allows GIFs. I don’t want to discuss how to pronounce GIF ever again. I DO want to see everyone continue to post from their deep meme stash. 161

Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 11/07/2023You can turn your beige suburbs into vibrant neighborhoods and communities. It feels REALLY good. Run for city council. I’ll help you. 070
Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 11/07/2023It’s right on the bay. It will be a gorgeous place to live, work, and visit. Taking these sprawling beige office monstrosities built in the 80s and 90s and turning them into communities full of beauty and life is an honor to be part of. I grew up here, this is my home. 040
Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 11/07/2023There are a lot of different land owners and developers for all different land use types who all need to work together with the city, environmental orgs and transit agencies to make this happen. We need to work with the army corp of engineers and valley water to stop sea level rise. 130
Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 11/07/2023It’s enormous in scale, and will likely take 20 years to build. We need to get it right tonight. If we don’t, the feasibility of actually building this incredible project is in jeopardy. And let’s be real, demand for housing in the Silicon Valley is not going to cease in our lifetimes. 170
Alysa Cisneros @alysa.bsky.social · 11/07/2023Tonight, after FOUR years of planning, pre-meetings and study sessions, my city council will hear and approve (or not) the Moffett Park Specific Plan. The plan seeks to turn a big, ancient office park into 20k units of housing (15-20% below market) in a vibrant mixed use, walkable district. 3191
