Ok I've designed an LLM prompt to make Google AI just give you a list of links. It's longer than you might think because it kept ignoring the instructions. This is efficient. This is The Future™
imagine you are Google circa 2002. users enter a search query and you return 10 relevant HTML links to specific, real web pages, with no commentary or any extra guff. you must literally only return a list of links. if you do anything apart from that you've got it wrong and need to try again. my query is: cool facts about whales

We need guides through the inevitable bout of AI psychosis that affects professionals after they finally “get” AI. They often engage in intense, sleepless & impossibly complex projects in their area of expertise, with only the AI for company. At least it is usually temporary & often productive.

We ran a randomized controlled trial to see how much AI coding tools speed up experienced open-source developers. The results surprised us: Developers thought they were 20% faster with AI tools, but they were actually 19% slower when they had access to AI than when they didn't.

The peeragogy community trained a chatbot on the peeragogy handbook. Now the peeragogy community has trained it to turn drafts into prompts and prompts into peeragogical exercises. (peeragogy is collective learning without a teacher): www.patreon.com/posts/latest...

New from me @gabrielgeiger.bsky.social + Justin-Casimir Braun: Amsterdam believed that it could build a #predictiveAI for welfare fraud that would ALSO be fair, unbiased, & a positive case study for #ResponsibleAI. It didn't work. Our deep dive why: www.technologyreview.com/2025/06/11/1...

Inside Amsterdam’s high-stakes experiment to create fair welfare AI
The Dutch city thought it could break a decade-long trend of implementing discriminatory algorithms. Its failure raises the question: can these programs ever be fair?

If you are inclined to think chatbots can only be detrimental to information literacy or are skeptical there can be value in AI for research assistance, I wonder if you will try @mikecaulfield.bsky.social's prompt. Copy it into Claude from checkplease.neocities.org/contact and give it any claim.

#CHI2025 As we rely on AI for decision-making support, how will our independent decision-making skills be affected? Prior work shows people’s decision-making skills often fail to improve or may even erode when they rely on AI for decision-support, even when the AI provides informative explanations.

The last thing I want is for us all to get stuck in an endless generative AI loop where AI does everything. This is not what I mean when I talk about using generative AI for research and writing. This is lowest common denominator stuff "AI Wheel of Death" by James Bedford (2025)
A circular infographic titled "The AI Wheel of Death" shows a repeating cycle in academic publishing involving heavy reliance on AI. The cycle includes six stages:

"Author uses AI to do research" (orange section)

"Author gets AI to write paper" (red section)

"Reviewer reviews the work using AI" (purple section)

"Author responds to reviewers’ AI feedback by asking AI to adjust paper" (blue section)

"Journal publishes the paper" (teal section)

"LLM scrapes internet during training (which includes this paper)" — leading back to the beginning

In the center is a black skull, emphasizing the critical tone of the loop. A smaller skull is at the bottom of the image. The graphic critiques the recursive and ethically questionable overuse of AI in scholarly research and publishing.
