Our creed as educators is to students and their right to learn. We provide tools not to tell others what they should think but how to think for themselves. Our greatest role in society is to provide the opportunity for everyone to participate.

The Trump administration deported two families, including three U.S. citizen children, after cutting them off from their lawyers and disregarding one of the child's need for cancer medication. This is inhumane and illegal.

I just want to be a good person. I know that wont be perfect, that ‘ll make mistakes, and every choice or action will upset someone… But darn it if I don’t want to just do the right thing, be kind, be helpful, be good. Why does that feel so exceptionally hard these days

You are saying that but you are not backing your claims. You are simply saying that its false and that I am an idiot. The doctrine began in 1949 but the policy was back in 1954. Cable tv started being rolled out in the mid 1950s with the earliest claim to cable being 1948 by John Walson.

But further—and this is more theoretic discussion—the integrity of broadcast and journalism with fair representation as a federal requirement did have an impact on cable integrity. But I digress, theres a lot of missed opportunity for modernizing our laws and we seem to be living it now.

Alt School District @altteacher.bsky.social · 19/03/2025
What can be argued—and this is dependent on hindsight conjecture—the FCC and congress could have and possibly would have considered arguments to extend the doctrine to cable. As such, the efforts to codify and protect the doctrine from Reagan can be seen as a hopeful chance of “could have”
300
Alt School District @altteacher.bsky.social · 19/03/2025
Correct! The fairness doctrine was initiated when cable networking was in its infancy. However, the implications and discussion around fairness doctrine, cable, and journalistic integrity can still be had and inferred. The FCC and Congress never even had a chance to discuss cable inclusion.
