We have a dementia-addled con-man in charge of our country who's starting wars and destroying the environment and the economy while he and his buddies use government institutions to enrich themselves at our expense. But we also have bubble-blowers shaped like T-Rex heads, so I guess it evens out.

And here I was thinking "Nancy" is a family comic.
Panel 1: Nancy walks through a department store.
Panel 2: Nancy stops at a counter with a woman holding a hairbrush standing behind a sign that reads "Let us demonstrate our super hair brush".
Panel 3: The woman says, "Would you like a demonstration?"
Panel 4: Nancy turns away from the woman, bends forward, points at her buttocks, and says "Okay --- go ahead." while the woman looks at her, confused.

There are people in this world so stinking rich that they could literally buy a new car every time they wanted to drive somewhere, and they contribute zero labour to the economy in return. They make more money from passive income in a day than you make from working all year.

Meanwhile, they want us to think that the immigrants who work their asses off for jive wages are a drain on the economy, and that they're taking jobs from local workers. However, those things cannot both be true at the same time: immigrants cannot simultaneously be providing cheap labour AND draining the economy. If they are in fact contributing such cheap labour that they're outcompeting local workers for jobs, then they're actually contributing cheap labour to the economy: that increases productivity and profitability.

The harsh reality is that it's quite possible for something to be good for "the economy" but bad for the people you care about. That's the nature of capitalism, and if you conservatives love capitalism as much as you say you do, then you should be fine with this.

Conservatives put all the blame on immigrants every time the economy restructures in a way that's unpopular, because they are doctrinally prohibited from blaming capitalism itself.

Helping Renee Good's killer get off scot-free is an important part of their plan. When he gets off scot-free, the message will be clear: "we can execute you in public, with the whole world watching, and get away with it".

Ever notice that people can get angry at particular industry when it does capitalism, but they never blame capitalism?

When Big Pharma gouges people for profit, that's on Big Pharma, not capitalism. When Big Oil lobbies to gut environmental regulations, that's on Big Oil, not capitalism. When institutional investors buy up all the housing so they can gouge low-income people on rent, that's real-estate investors, not capitalism. When construction companies cut corners on safety and people die, that's evil construction contractors, not capitalism.

Trump Derangement Symdrome.
Symptoms: an obsessive desire to worship a world class conman known as Donald Trump. Loss of moral compass. Starts to justify things previously held in disdain and doesn't live in reality or hold regard for simple facts. Has a rabid response to those with an unfavorable or differing opinion of their leader Trump. Experiences delusional episodes where they start to mindlessly worship a convicted felon and sexual predator as some type of American hero.

When Trumpers say "we're going to take our country back", it sounds nonsensical, because white conservatives never lost control of the country in the first place. At no point did they have anything less than firm control of the country.

But it makes more sense when you understand what it actually means: they're not taking something they lost. They always had it. What they're doing is stopping the practice of sharing that thing with others.

"Taking back", in this context, is about stopping the generosity.

Imagine having a swimming pool, but your wife told the neighbours' kids they could use the pool. But this pisses you off because you don't like the neighbour's kids, so you went apeshit and screamed at the neighbour's kids and put up a barbed-wire fence and threatened to shoot them if you ever saw them using your pool again, and when your wife brought up the fact that she gave them permission, you started beating her up. And all the while, you were thinking that you're just protecting what's yours, and you never once thought you might be the asshole. That's what a Trumper is.

You know, even if you disliked Kamala Harris or the entire Democratic party, you should be honest enough to admit that their predictions about a Trump presidency were pretty much 100% accurate.

A lot of people criticized them for relying on "fearmongering" during the election, but it's not fearmongering when it's true.

I'd like to remind the world that Kirk was in the middle of giving a smarmy, smart assed answer to questions about gun violence. He died with a smirk on his lips, thinking he was 'owning the libs' by dismissing their concerns about shootings when he got his.
The manner of his death is such an amazing moment of karmic comeuppance that if this was a fictional book the author would be told to write something more realistic because this is beyond the pale.

When some hateful public figure dies, this idea those he marginalized, harassed, degraded, and daily attacked using the most vile of insults, should somehow for reasons of "decorum" offer up sympathy and kind words is one of the most ridiculous and insane delusions ever demanded by people who daily traffic in ridiculous and insane delusions.

The targets of hate have every right to smile at one less hater in the world.
