Dearest @cupcakegoth.bsky.social . I have done my job as an Auntie. I have taken my niece to the Haunted Mansion.

Endorsing @callalily57.bsky.social skills and attention to detail in genealogy research. I got a very thorough report on my great grandmother, who I knew so little about and couldn’t wrestle info out of my family. It was so lovely.

I don’t give a shit if he bulldozes the whole White House and replaces it with a gold plated McDonald’s. It’d be the least offensive thing he’s done. I’m not going to precious about a building. I’m still sad about losing the Tower on Sunset, yet I feel nothing about this.

I am on an iPhone 12, and I’m not sure how I can get a decent photo of this beautiful spider web. Should I try in the morning? What setting should I use to get crispness/detail? Help?

Depression is swallowing me whole. I have one more month of health insurance and then my meds are unaffordable. Been out of work since February 2024. I feel like walking into the sea. I know I’m not alone, but that makes it worse. I don’t want anyone else to feel like this.

I went outside to garden and planted lettuce and spinach and an ocean of flowers. Started the seedlings for the tea garden and vegetable gardens. Then I opened the internet to see 700 Marines are being deployed. I am peacefully gardening here in Los Angeles, which is not remotely a war zone.

It occurs to me that if I had more confidence I could probably start a business helping people plan and plant water-wise low maintenance gardens. But sometimes I feel so low I can barely keep up with my own gardens.

I made corned beef with potatoes and carrots and baked a loaf of soda bread. My great-great grandmother, Bridget McGloughlin, would have been proud, I guess. When she was 16, she stole money from the pockets of her drunk father, got on a boat in Ireland, and ended up in Boston. So here I am.

I made banana muffins. I browned the butter so they have a subtle toffee flavor. Just a random, small, good thing.
