Recently discovered a common way to make lasagna in southern Italy is with sliced hard boiled eggs and green peas in the ragu. My mind is in turmoil.

Sept is a busy food prep month for me. Along with the garden canning, freezing and curing going on, its also hubby's bday month, which means Baconpalooza! 30-ish friends come for all things bacon! (Yes, desserts too) 16 things this year. Today was bacon-wrapped chicken bacon ranch taquitos.

Can someone who subs the Free Press tell me if they mention that the Sea Bears player was smashed and harassing the female staff to the point of being ejected, then pulling the old "do you know who I f'ing am?" as he swung at and spit on the bouncers? Because the headlines don't seem to.

Binging the new Little House on the Prairie. So very different from the Landon version, but I like it. Some dark themes, definately not a young kids series. A few cool cameos. ;) Shot right here in Manitoba :)

Caution to inexperienced cooks: AI generated recipes are untested and not to be trusted. The last 4 recipes I started to read through on Pinterest were fraught with ommissions, conversion errors and substitution suggestions that would result in disaster.

I'm not downtown very often anymore, but when Winnipeg Folkfest has a pop up presale on merch, you make the trek! Followed up by a falafel from Bodegas, Red River book store, and Toad Hall Toys. I'm now completely over-stimulated from the stores and need a quiet potter in my garden. Lol

Hooray! After finding zero monarch eggs on my milkweed all last year, (smoky summer - wildfires) I just found 11! So many ditches are still filled with water after our 10 inches of rainfall last week so alot of wild milkweed is under water 😞 Chez Ally is all cleaned up and ready for hatchlings!

Milkweed leaves with monarch eggs attached in a plastic container. Once the eggs hatch and gone through one molt, they will move to my enclosure until they emerge from chrysalis.

Bang bang salmon in the air fryer, with Edemame. Took less prep and cook time than the rice. Going into the summer rotation as a "too pooped from gardening to cook" dinner. 🍽

He never ceases to impress. While we have plans to build a small reclaimed window greenhouse for hardening off plants and slightly extending the growing season, he has taken the frames of 2 old 10x10 sun shelters and made me an 8x10 temporary version.

A temporary lean-to style greenhouse made from 2 10x10 sun shelters frames and a part roll of poly. 2 benches, that the backs fold down to make a picnic table, makes for plant shelving. Will be used for hardening off my indoor started plants.

Census complete. We never received a code in the mail, so had to request one. Was quick, but finicky because of a rural address. Didn't recognize it with legal land descript either, but 3rd option of map plot pin was the charm. My nerdy friends; commence jealousy - got the long version! Lol

Still eating potatoes and carrots from last fall's harvest! So lucky to have a cold room. A few of the potatoes are starting to bud so it's that time to sort some out as my seed potatoes and making some fries and perogys for freezing!
