You really do just have to keep at it. We've applied for dozens of festivals every year for more than a decade and we didn't get anything until several years in. There are 2 paths to success: get lucky and everybody loves you instantly, or just keep at it for as long as it takes.

I haven't done one of these in a while! Today's venue the The Local in Toronto. We love this place, it's basically the only place we play in the city and we're fine with that.

Excellent show tonight. The room was full, the crowd had great time and sang along when they could, and some old friends of ours showed up! Truly magical. We had no idea anybody was going to come out. What an awesome journey we've had on this little tour. Would do again!

It's our last show of the tour tonight, on St Joseph Island, and for some reason it sold out. That's fun for a Tuesday night! I honestly thought it was going to be pretty empty, so it's a very nice surprise. I have no idea how many tickets "sold out" is though, to be fair.

Really great show at Rock Island Lodge in Wawa tonight. A house show vibe but in a cabin right on Lake Superior. We took a break to all watch the sunset together. Friggin magical. Those moments make it all worth it.

I think a lot of people think that art and media are *for* them, that it should be created to meet their preferences. But it can't be. I think art is made to the preference of the artist and the beauty for the viewer is in finding the shared connection with the artist & everyone else that likes it.

Heading out on a 1 week tour with the quartet on Wednesday! Playing a few shows to and from the Live from the Rock Festival up near Thunder Bay. It's the longest trip the band has taken together, but I think it's going to be a lot of fun. I'm sure I'll take 0 pictures, as usual.

I played a lot of stand up bass for the first time in years last night, and for the first time at an old time jam of ~15 people. I had forgotten the power that you have as a bass player in a big group like that. It's really like steering a boat. lt was so fun! Highly recommended.

It's probably awful somehow but it would be really great to have content filters for pics of children. I'm sorry, but I don't want to see happy, adorable babies in diapers just as much as I don't want to see children suffering with measles or casualties of war. Is that weird? I don't think so. 🤷‍♂️

We played a festival far enough away that we had absolutely no cell phone coverage. And that in itself is a gift. Woke up way too early on Sunday morning and got this gorgeous pic of the misty Temagami River.

I do not envy the folks that are making these decisions. To me it seems simple, if we don't fix climate change, the world will be incalculably worse for everyone. Making new oil infrastructure is insane in this climate, and I do not understand how that can be more important than the climate. 🤷‍♂️
