There are solid state battery power banks in the market now that are much safer than lithium ion. I’ve got a set of BMX SolidSafe battery packs and they work great. They’ve got videos where they drive nails through the battery and it keeps working. Do that with lithium ion and it would explode.

Same thing happened to me, just a month earlier. I’m still in the hospital. Getting a transplant is a major lifestyle change. Good luck Ben! It will get easier over time.

If you need portability, the Fisher Space Pen is a great option. I keep one in my pocket all the time.

I know it’s too late, and a solution might not be welcome at this stage, but we ended up adding stickers to our windows near our bird feeders. That put a stop to the bird injuries and deaths.

My youngest son and I are playing RDR2 now (it was gifted to me years ago and I forgot about it until recently). Feels like I'm an actor in a Rockstar movie forced to do the bidding of the director, who is clumsy, full of himself, and inept. It's a combination of boring and bad game mechanics.

The real question is how can people leave the house before they poop? Coffee at home is essential.

Outside was oddly pink Friday morning in the run up to the bomb cyclone that was supposed to hit the SF bay area (we got some rain, but nothing unusual)

Our backyard lit with an odd pink color before a major storm that never actually did much.

The app was always crap. The bluetooth connection was flaky. No way I'm paying anything for it. If you use Home Assistant there's an integration for Anova. For the bluetooth versions you can use the ESPHome anova climate platform. I haven't used either yet, but plan to give it a shot.

Were those powered speakers? If so, maybe the amplifier capacitors went bad. I replaced the caps on my M-Audio Studiophile AV 40's rather than throw them out. Also got a smart switch to turn them off automatically when the computer is off or sleeping.

Why is the "n" sound at the end of his name on the headband ん (hiragana) instead of ン (katakana, like the other characters)?

I finally got fed up with the awful iPad experience (especially that random zooming when clicking on threads) and tried the Grey sky app this morning. Much better experience. Feels and looks like a native app, and has language translations built in (without dumping you to Safari).

Nice! サンドマン is Katakana for "Sandoman" (practicing for a trip to Japan next year). At our house we jokingly use "sando" for sandwich, but it actually means sand in Japanese. But then again, "Sandwich Man" feels like a missed opportunity...

The problem with autocorrect feels like inadequate context. Clearly some context is being applied (I've noticed some improvement in this area with iOS over the years). It's not good enough though. Perhaps LLM AI could actually help here? Talking about just spell checking, not editorializing.

We have an increasingly extensive body of evidence that transphobia is not a major mover of votes. Don't let politicians who are selling out trans people pretend otherwise.

Ohio voters approved a ballot measure enshrining a right to abortion in the State Constitution on Tuesday. Issue 1, as the ballot measure is known, had become the most-watched race in the off-year U.S. elections. nyti.ms/47e8p98

A headline reads: "Ohio Votes to Establish a Right to Abortion in the State’s Constitution." A summary reads: "The latest win for abortion-rights groups, the result sends a signal that voters are motivated by the Supreme Court ending Roe v. Wade."

I hated the soft escape key after Jony Ive banished it to the TouchBar. That resulted in a lot of friction. I'm puzzled that anyone found value in the TouchBar. But fully admit that my software development workflow might have something to do with not recognizing value for other creatives?
