Hegseth also removed the olive branches, a traditional symbol of wishing peace, from the Department of Defense seal. This, in addition to changing the name to "The Department of War," shows the dangerous belligerency that comes from appointing a frat bro who values testosterone over statesmanship.

Surging Measles Outbreaks May Fuel Mumps And Other Infections
Mumps outbreaks may be fueled by two things—waning immunity and immune amnesia following measles. We are likely to see more of both as fewer people vaccinate.

Spectacular detail in this story www.nytimes.com/2026/10/05/w...
The governor of the neighboring Buryatia region, Aleksei Tsydenov, was the first to officially raise the prospect of plague. He said on Friday that "the woman who died of plague in the Irkutsk region" had not visited Buryatia. His post on a state-linked messaging app was later updated to read "possibly died of plague."
The following day, the authorities in Baikalsk, a town about 50 miles from the city of Irkutsk, cited "unofficial
information" about "a case of plague" in a statement advising against travel to Shelekhov. That statement, on Telegram, was later deleted
