The thing that will destroy humanity isn't an AI escaping containment, it's going to be some human choosing to put AI and all of its flaws in control of something they shouldn't, and the AI doing something like making poor targeting decisions. And our current gov't would definitely allow that.

Saying it's just a next word predictor is like saying human psychology is just quantum physics. It's *technically* correct (the best kind of correct), l but it's not really *meaningfully* correct. Turns out that with enough compute, that token prediction starts to look an awful lot like thinking.

I think it's closer to "there is a present moment, but it's only for you, and everyone/thing has their own". Which is similar, but not quiiiite the same. But yeah, things get super screwy when relativity comes into play, and some of it does hurt the brain.

Sadly, much of the GOP playbook has revolved around convincing half the country that the things that are less awful would actually be *more* awful, and that the actually awful things are actually good. Even if the Dem's messaging (and actions) are amazing, a lot of people are just... brainwashed.

It'd be one thing to have a video where some manager just sat there typing prompts and stringing things together (which yeah, fuck that noise), but when a video is actually good and obviously created by humans, with creativity and intent? That seems like a win, to me.

Who says that using tooling outsources the creative process, rather than accelerate it? Artists don't tend to use AI via "type a prompt, hit the generate button until the final image looks good". And really, who are we on the outside to dictate to artists what their process should be?

So it was motivating, presumably good, had real artists working on it, but it's ruined because those real artists (presumably) used an AI tool and so expertly integrated it into their art that you couldn't even tell? In a world where AI tools exist, isn't that exactly how you'd want things to work?

I weighed ~270, and went on a 900-calorie/day liquid diet (doctor-monitored). In the first two weeks, I lost ~20lbs (water weight, as I understand it). Over the next ~3 months I lost 1 pound. Total. With lots of activity and exercise. And without cheating even once. It can be a real thing.

After all, the client is coming to you for art, not a lecture. Don't want to end up making them feel punished for doing the very thing you want to advocate (paying human artists). I suspect, as with all things, there's a balance to be had.

Plus, you want the human artist to be the *premium* experience, which is definitely not what the client gets if you tell them to fuck off. Though I might argue that "just accept whatever reference the client offers" is valid, too. If it's AI, it probably cost an AI company money, so, win?

The difference being you can run the AI hundreds of times with varying tweaks until you actually get what you want, but it's unlikely an artist would be willing to give you hundreds of sketches to help you get what you want. Let clients communicate how they're most comfortable. There's no downside.
