Quebec politics right now is like “haha, the right wing party is projected to win no seats 😀 But also the right wing party is projected to win☹️ The centre right wing party is in second 😐 the unhinged right wing party is in third 🤔” Is Quebec 17 right wing parties in a trench coat⁉️

Also makes me think back to that World Cup meme, where other countries' national anthems be like "war, death, heroes, more war, glory, etc. 😠💪" and the Brazilian one be like "bitch, just look at how GORGE our country is, we've got flowers and shit🥹🤗🌺"

That person fumbled the Canadian national anthem, which is literally 10 verses long 🫠 Imagine these people trying to sing the Brazilian national anthem, which has more stanzas (18) than the Canadian one has verses 😂

Y'all love to bring garbage in here from that (other) internet sewer. Let me bring in this:
X post from Pope Leo XIV from a day ago, which reads:

This gem by the pool 😊
Foreground: yellowed pages of a paperback in which we can read: "la chasse, une perdrix dans chaque main il les jeta première déclinaison.

Ca va me servir à quoi? »

Background, faint, out of focus: blue swimming pool, trees, a house

In John 1:1 'and the Word was God', the Greek text doesn't have an article before the word 'God'. You could take 45 minutes to discuss that as a theological mystery. Or you could answer it in 4.5 seconds: Complements don't take articles in ancient Greek.

And the word was God (John 1.1)
The missing article in John 1.1 isn't a theological mystery: it's a basic feature of Greek grammar.

READING PHILOSOPHIES OF NATURE AND BEAUTY: close reading as method in the history of philosophy

24th Nov 2026 Workshop organised by Campbell Rider

10:00-17:00

University of Sydney, Quadrangle N494.

As historians of philosophy, we are directly acquainted with the method of 'close reading', but are rarely challenged to articulate what, exactly, this methodology entails, and how it can be better practiced.

This one-day event brings together senior scholars with early career researchers within the history of philosophy to discuss the role of close reading in our own work and its implications for our discipline.

ECRs and graduate students working on the following topics are encouraged to submit abstracts or register to participate:

philosophies of nature, environmental aesthetics and ethics

philosophy of art, beauty and aesthetics

underrepresented and non-canonical figures in the history of philosophy
