it was weirdly humanizing to see a person who is part of the brutal Trump Political Theater Circus suffer from what appeared to be genuine opening night jitters... what a time to be alive

Saw "Maybe Happy Ending" at the National Theater in DC - what a lovely and tender and surprising show. Great writing and a sweet, understated musical score. Very timely, too. Great musical option for folks who typically aren't into big razzle-dazzle shows

Fortunately most of the wedding attendee dress codes for these were actually decipherable, which I have written about before www.newyorker.com/humor/daily-...

am coming off THREE weekends of attending weddings, almost back-to-back... joyful but also exhausting. The costuming! The makeup! Feel like I am in a national Broadway tour of Ali Attending Weddings. We need an Actors Equity Association for this

There is a lot of "oh dear" to go around in the results of this very thorough Pew study on the issues with synthetic samples, but this strikes me as particularly "oh dear" www.pewresearch.org/data-labs/20...

AI polling results can lean on racial or partisan stereotypes

In many cases, our AI poll took beliefs or attitudes that are reasonably common among a particular subgroup and portrayed them as nearly ubiquitous. For example, our AI poll would indicate that:

97% of Hispanic adults are at least somewhat likely to follow the World Cup (while the actual share is 43%).

Hadn’t thought about Corner Bakery in DC in ages until the ProPublica story came out today! Generally concur with the other replies on this thread lol It’s like a less-cheery Panera and doesn't have even a whiff of intrigue … wild to see it come up in a DC bribe drama

040

I overheard a table convo once at a Corner Bakery in downtown DC where the very dressed-up guys were apparently lawyers and at some point one yelled to the others “Guys can we stop talking shop for a sec? Please let’s just stop talking shop!” Idk why I remember this. “Death of a Salesman” vibes

Very middling but still pricey food and pastry options. A lot like a Panera. Lots of businessmen in suits.

Can you provide any additional info or sources about this?

I haven’t talked about this very much because honestly I’m just too devastated, but Trump really did just take my city’s beloved arts center and trash it because fascists hate art and I’ll never be over it, for my community and for all the artists and all the Kennedy Center employees

One of the most complex and courageous pieces of writing by a parent that I’ve read recently! I keep re-reading it

000

I was thinking about this too as I read it & I was *deeply* moved by her account of the phone convo between her and her daughter - the honesty, the reflection, and the fact that her daughter did mention how parts of her identity were still positively shaped by some of her experiences

I’m in a community choir in DC where many of us have personal connections to either seeing or being in shows there and the in-person community has also been so helpful 🙏🎶

I keep thinking about this piece and it has helped me fwiw!! Am absolutely gutted by what’s going on there

Put your baby to sleep flat on their back in a crib, bassinet, play yard, bedside sleeper or other product designed for safe sleep. If your baby falls asleep in a car seat or other product not designed for sleep, move them to a safe sleep space.
