Karen Sneider has a technique for panel gags of setting a 20 minute timer, free associating on a topic, and then drawing each of the words until a joke comes up

Quantum and Woody is irreverent and fun. I remember liking Archer and Armstrong a fair bit as well, but I have no memories beyond that.

As for the rest, I bounced off Harbinger and XO Manowar, and never tried the rest.

For $20 I might bite. Good stuff, especially if you're the target audience (a 17 year old boy).

Bloodshot got some backlash for something (transphobia, maybe?) a year or so back, but that was long after Valiant fell off my radar, no idea if the one in this bundle is related.

Reading Will Eisner's "Comics and Sequential Art", and this passage seems to have a corollary in the TTRPG world:

A factor that has always had an impact on comics as an art form is the underlying reality that we are dealing with a medium of expression which is primarily visual. Artwork dominates the reader's initial attention. This then lures the artist to concentrate his skills on style, technique and graphic devices which are designed to dazzle the eye. The reader's receptivity to the sensory ef-fect and often his evaluation of its worth reinforces this concern and en-courages the proliferation of artistic athletes who produce pages of absolutely stunning art held together by almost no story at all.

I forgot to take a picture of the cake but here's the frosting. I cut up some cherries (a mix of tart and marascino) to add to the batter. It was supposed to be a 3 layer cake, but the third layer fell apart on me, so it's two, with a separate crumble cake 😂

Hey @das-boog.bsky.social what was the original pitch that got you on board for Cyberrats? We were looking for artists who could draw tubes and glowing goop, I think? Mechanically, we're heavily influenced by Atlas Reactor (a game eight people have played) and I wanted a Rask Vibe for the cover

The original cyberrats cover featureing a screaming rat with tanks of green goop plugging into itself and its gun.

Rask from Atlas Reactor, a kind of bipedal lion (?) with tubes of glowing green goop on his back, connecting to various ports and veins.
